I don’t know if I can hunt turkeys anymore.

Sounds like you are out for a trick shot trying to double up. I don't think it is a sight issue or lack of I think it is trying to do too much.

It was a very doable shot you would had to be there...

Picked up a Winchester SXP that comes with longbeard XR choke and picatinny rail/ Burris fast fire arrives tomorrow...

Eotech. Put head in circle. Pull trigger. Bird dead. Every time. I can't remember the last turkey I missed.

Even though I think I might be able to accomplish the same thing with the cheaper vortex venom.

Get a red dot. I use a Fastfire, but the Vortex is fine too.

Went with the fast fire 3 don't really see much difference between this and vortex venom and $40 cheaper.

You will love it. I just have the eotech because I bought it several years back and was the best at the time. I figure if the military use them I will. I actually just bought another and looked at some of the cheaper versions. I'm sure they are fine but I haven't moved mine in 10 years or however long it's been in there. I couldn't complain with service like that. That fast fire should cure the missing. Good luck with it.

How did you mount the FF? Picatinny or speedbead mount?

Just looked at the my tracking for the Picattiny and the next day air must of not gone through, delivering Wed the 11th. :bash:

It's mounted as far back on the receiver as possible. There is a flat spot that flows back toward the receiver from the ribbed barrel. It's mounted where the flat spot ends.

Yeah I agree on the fastfires or venoms. Personally I hate eotech, they are gigantic. That's just my own opinion though
Same here, put one on an extrema and had to hold head off stock just to get a sight picture. Never even tried to shoot it, and just took it back off. Was great on an AR, though.

Well the plight continues even with the new SXP... My work has been brutal and I didn't have time to pattern or mount red dot, because I got wrong picatinny rail.....

1. 25 yards clear as day. Miss...
2. 35 yards hit a little limb that never saw.

5 misses in a row...

I can't deal...

Dang man, that has to sting, BIG TIME! Do you primarily hunt hardwoods, fields, or what? Reason I ask, is my suggestion at this point would be put the factory flush full in any 12G gun, load up the best shells you can find and shoot the bead out to 35 yards with lead, maybe 40 with HTL, and 45 with TSS. The foliage should start coming on strong here soon, so the average shot distance should start decreasing unless you are 100% open ground hunter. Best of luck in rectifying this and getting your confidence back.

So you bought a gun never shot it and carried it hunting? After you have been missing? Dude, you asked for it this time!

I hope you get situated there's plenty of season left. Unless you miss deer with a rifle I suggest you put a scope on it. If you miss with a rifle also you have to be pulling the shot or pulling your head up so you can see impact.

Thanks buddy. I'm fortunate I've called 5 to gun range this season but only seen one flop, that my buddy shot...? The last one hurt so bad I went and bought a new gun....

Today was even worse....

Looks like new choke and a shells and some time shooting paper....

You're right. My plan was to get the red dot and have it dialed in before Saturday when we hunted a property for first time this season....

18 hour work days and life had other plans...
