This in Knoxville or Anderson? I'm betting knox.
I guess soIt's not even August, and people are already fighting over spots?

Oh my main spot is way deeper than that he was basically right on the main trail maybe 50-100 yards from parking lot3 ways to handle this:
#1 change sites never deal with him again
#2 walk in to "his place " around peek shooting time occasionally.
# hunt deeper in and drag a deer past him while he is still in the stand.
I use cameras quiet often but they are always in a new spot just watching the deers patterns.Just think he has probably got cameras up also. Now he has claimed the area for himself. I have zero tolerance for it. But that's how people get on public land. That's why we all say no stands left behind and no cameras on public. Not because we have something against them. It's because lots of people claim these areas as there's. Just because of the stands and cameras they leave out. Depending on how big the area is. Dictates wether you can just go somewhere else. Some of us don't have many options.
I usually find escape routes from "His" spotWhen I come across another guy or " his spot" I usually opt to let him have the spot knowing he'll probably bugger up the area anyways. I would rather know the bozo was there prior to opening day so look at it as a blessing. Nothing worse than looking forward to opening day and have some yahoo come strolling under your stand 30 minutes after daylight.
I may have to use this idea. With a few scrapes.I've been told....a bag of hair from your local barber shop, broadcast into the area, can really work wonders for their season...
That would've freaked me out! Serial killerish! You ever see someone walking through the woods and they see you? Hide behind a tree. It freaks people out. Lol.
I had a guy screaming one time "is somebody there?"
After about 2 mins I just walked to the next tree and stood behind it. I never turned my head his way but I could see he was still standing there
Then he screamed "WTF?"
I waited another few mins then stepped to the next tree. Sure enough he was still there.
Then he screams "f this!" And I watched as he practically hurt himself running towards the parking lot! I almost died laughing. My wife says I have a sick sense of humor, I find myself hilarious!
That's crazy. Since you say little old man, I'm guessing you had a chat with him?It wasn't during season. I was out scouting.
Only been shot at one time. That was on Yanahili. Little old man shot at me from about 300 yards with his trusty 30/30 because he seen the bamboo moving when I was coming out of the river bottom.
Yes we spoke. Well I spoke, he was crying. He had a complete breakdown when I came out in to the field. I was furious and it was hard to be mad with him sobbing. That's crazy. Since you say little old man, I'm guessing you had a chat with him?
I would say he learned from his mistake. Glad everyone went home that day.Yes we spoke. Well I spoke, he was crying. He had a complete breakdown when I came out in to the field. I was furious and it was hard to be mad with him sobbing.
exactly! That would've freaked me out! Serial killerish!
He needs a lesson on public hunting and hunting ethics.Went scouting this afternoon and got my cameras I have had out. Well, I was walking down a trail back to my truck and ran into this "kid" maybe 18-19 years old standing off the trail. When he seen me he yelled hey man this is my spot! As I looked at him like he was crazy and told him buddy you know this is public land right no one has a "spot". Then he comes back and says we'll this is mine I better not catch you back over here. The kid was standing beside a freaking trail in the middle of some thick tember that you can't see maybe 5' with his vortex binoculars. I can't stand people like that. So, to top it off I get back home start looking at my cameras and sure enough there he is on me grabbing my camera and turning it around on the tree. What the heck….
Declaring a spot in July before range shift happens seems a little fruitless to me anyways... public or private.Just think he has probably got cameras up also. So will rubbing a stick of old spice on select trees. The blade of a folding saw makes some real good rubs to have a lot of company. Then you hunt on the escape routes. Or a couple of days before hunt moth balls will scare all the deer out of his area . Don't ask how I know
Me too. The buzzards are staring to circle me.I'm out there for fun. If someone is so adamant that I was in their spot I'd just move on and let them have it. I only have "X" number of days I can hunt and don't want to take the chance of their being a confrontation when I have other places I can go to. There's still plenty of time to find new spots.
