Jakes.... Yes or No?

Absolutely. I can bird watch 321 days a year. I go out during the 44 day season to kill a turkey. I will watch them the rest of the year.

Have killed a few. I don't kill em anymore. I am after the big boys. Now I have had some super Jakes that needed killiin. Its up to the hunter. If its legal kill em

Not usually unless it is an accident.

how can it be an accident? Do you not look at what your aiming at before you pull the trigger?

I understand how it can be an "accident", it is more a mistake then an accident. I have seen it happen plenty of times, and been fortunate to not make the same mistake myself over the years. IT is quite common, and nothing dangerous or unsafe behind a mistake jake going down.

Its really simple will you shoot a jake? Yes or no... The reason I ask is because the state I live in Arkansas, just passed a law that it is against the law to take jakes. My answer is no, unless i am hunting with a kid or with someone who is new to turkey hunting. I wanna hear what yall have to say...
Isn't this kinda similar to the whitetail buck "brown is down" versus "QDM" debate?

Personally, no.

But in parts of the country with a more than ample supply of mature male birds, it does no biological harm to the population, especially if turkey season opens AFTER peak breeding has occured.

The problem is there are many parts of the country with an inadequate supply of male birds or a borderline supply of male birds and the season opens BEFORE peak breeding has occured.

If TWRA biologists feel this is not the case in any parts of the state, and therefore allow a 4 jake limit per person per year, then who are we to criticize either TWRA or the 4 jake killer.
