Mathews X coming mid May

There's prejudices with every bow company simply because people are involved in using them. Some of it has to do with marketing hype that people believe and repeat as the gospel truth. In this area, you got "the look" from the Mathews guys if you pulled a different brand bow from your bow case. Its not as bad now days as it was a couple of years ago; a lot of the guys have moved on to different bow brands now.

I've been winning my share of shoots this year with my Hoyt and I don't care if the Pros are shooting and winning with them or not. I only care about ME lol. I'm not a brand specific person; if you followed my journey that started in the fall of 2013, you know I bought the top of the line model bows from like 5 or 6 bow brands out there. I set them all up at my specs and with my equipment and shot them all for a few weeks to get a feel for them...and kept the one that I shot best and most consistent with. That could have been with ANY of the bows I selected but it so happened to be the Hoyt. For other people it is going to be something else, and that's how it should be.

And all the fanboys will say it's the best bow ever made by Mathews .......until the next model comes out . It's a never ending cycle , but it keeps Mathews in business . :)

Might want too check archerytalk... A bunch of people who don't like Mathews are talking about how nice this bow is.... Love how people always talk about owners of one brand or another... Guess I just never got into the grade school stuff about talking about other groups of folks.. Takes all kinds to make the world go around though.

I know you are a Mathews shooter and only promote Mathews . I have always said on this forum to shoot what works for the individual and pick the bow they shoot best with , regardless of brand hype .

My original post was a joke , hence the big smile . Mathews makes some fine bows , and I have owned a few over the years . I have never bought into the hype of the latest and greatest model , but bought the model that suited my needs . In some cases , past models that I considered better than the newer models , based on my own opinion.

I'm not a brand loyal person , and in one case I quit testing for a company because I didn't like the way the bows shot for me . I'd rather pay for a bow that I shoot well with , than shoot a bow that I don't shoot well with because they are a sponsor .
And one more thing . A bow company wanted me to hype up their latest models on the forums , and that is something I had a problem with , because I have always wanted people to choose what works for them , not a bow that was hyped up on a forum .

Good post !

I've never understood all the hatred towards Mathews. They make superb bows and their customer service is by far the best I've ever dealt with. If they made junk & treated their customers poorly I could understand, but the way things are with them they don't deserve the negativity.

I don't shoot Mathews any more but it wasn't because of the way I was treated or because I felt their bows were junk. Their bows are some of the best, if not the best, bows made today. I just wanted to try something different.

Everyone needs to shoot what you want & quit running other manufacturers down unless you have a good reason.

I don't think anyone here would argue the fact that Matthews makes solid bows . I think what Crow and others have eluded to is the cult like following Matthews has had over the last decade . I think the " If you don't shoot a Matthews , you aren't good enough to talk to us " crowd has ruined it for alot of people . Although the last few years that has died off a little bit . I think that is mainly due to other bow companies catching and surpassing their products .

I agree that Matthews makes solid bows , but most of te complaints I hear is they keep coming out with the same stuff over and over while their competitors are upping the bar . Tournament bows for sure , although they are still winning some with them . Maybe this new bow will be what the customers have been wanting , but from the reviews I have heard so far I don't think so .

I have never showed any hatred towards Mathews bows . I have made fun of the hype and that's all . Sorry if the word fanboy offended anyone , but if the shoe fits wear it proudly . No need to defend your exclusive brand loyalty or sponsorship obligations .

Just like you Radar I only shoot products I believe in. There have been Mathews models that I didn't care for or own. Not afraid to tell folks that. I also know some of the other brands make great bows. A person should chose the bow that fits them.. At least we can agree on that. )

In your opinion , what is the best shooting Mathews bow of all time ? I always liked the Switchback XT . My least favorite was the Z7 .

Since the parallel limb era began I'd say the Drenalin. Still hunting with mine that I bought in '07. I've shot the new ones each year and none have convinced me to upgrade from it.

I think I shot my Drenalin better than any of the other hunting models that I owned also. The Prestige was my favorite target bow.

I have not owned a drenalin , but heard them mentioned in many conversations of the all time best Mathews bows .
My point is , the latest might not be the greatest , regardless of the hype . Just something to think about , regardless of the brand .......

The EZ7 and the Switchback Xt are a few of my favs. The EZ7 was a joy to shoot. I should have kept that one. I know alot of people loved the reg Switchback but that's one I didn't shoot well. Didn't care for the Reezen either. The new Chill R is sweet shooter also. Have you shoot one ? What are you shooting right now?

I have not shot one , but the Chill R and Creed would be on my list if I were in the market for a new bow , along with several other bows .
I'm still shooting my Hoyt Katera XL right now . As long as I'm still shooting well with it , I don't plan to buy a new bow . I'm just not one of those guys who buy a new bow every year .

X2, and why I still shoot it today. I for one have shot a Mathews bow for the last 14 years (Legacy and Switchback XT), but I have not been that impressed with any of their "new releases" since my XT purchase. My .02, YMMV.

I most certainly don't hate the Mathews brand! I have owned more models of Mathews compound bows than perhaps any other brand in my 40+ years of shooting. I started with an LX and loved it, then came the Switchback. IMHO, the Switchback was one of their very best offerings ever! Then along the way a C4, Apex 7, Triumph, Z7, MR7, and a Z7 Magnum came and went along with others. My comments about the Mathews brand are my opinions formulated from having owned and shot them extensively!

To re-iterate: Mathews sells a lot of bows through their dealers. Mathews, just flat out advertises way more than its competitors by a very large margin.
If you've paid attention to the Mathews ads over the years the ads have been several pages large, graphic intensive, and very well done and they could bee seen in scores of publications! Pull out some of your old archery related magazines and look at the Mathews ads. You'll see their claims against other bows about level nock travel, and why they would never build a 2 cam bow, and why a split limb bow is inferior by design! Then why did Mathews go on to build a 2 cam bow and split limb bows after advertising against them? Because the solocam has gone about as far they can take it and the market has demanded the change!

Talk to almost any dealer and the story is the same: Mathews, backs their products and dealers with great customer service!

Many of my comments about the Mathews brand are based upon being disappointed with their latest offerings! It was only a short time ago when Mathews Inc. was on fire with awesome design improvements and technology and yes their competitors were playing catch-up! What I've been seeing over the last few years, since about the time of the Z7's introduction is a slow down and an attempt to repackage and reclaim the sales success of the initial Z7. Mathews has had unparalleled success with marketing short and shorter bows, this being driven by the hunting segment of the market and I've learned that I don't care for too many bows under the 35" mark with my draw length. When I owned my Z7 I loved how it shot and could shoot it really well, but when I drew the Z7 it felt like I had to grind my shoulder blades together to draw this short 30" bow! I said never again to a shorty bow!!! This is the reason I began to look elsewhere to feed my archery addiction! Yes, I have shot the Chill-X and I hoped it would spark a renewed interest in Mathews! I has hoped the Chill-X would be different!
