One bracket just came out

Maybe so but they would not be a one-loss team.
How do we know the team they are putting in over them wouldn't be a 4 loss team if they had to play a 13th game?

So they get a harsh punishment for taking an L in a 13th game... a championship game while a 3 loss team gets in setting at home.

An 11-1 team ranked in the top 8 shouldn't get left out for taking an L in a chip game IMO in favor of a 3 loss team. If that's the case, the ACC won't be able to field next year's ACC chip game. Cause apparently, even at 11-1, you're still getting the boot for an SEC team that lost a quarter of their regular season games.

The shouldn't they came out and said they will not punish teams playing in conference champ game. I would understand knocking a 3 loss team out that picks up a 4th loss like Clemson.

You can't make that statement then leave out a 11-1 team that lost a conference chip game. And give teams like 10-2 Ohio st and 11-1 Noter Dame home games that didn't even play in one.

If they do that, No one besides 3 loss teams that have no other chance of getting in will want to play in a conference chip.
Unless they get a player injured in the game. Apparently, you can boot a team from the playoffs even if they're undefeated to make way for Bama if someone gets hurt, or so FSU told me.

I'm lost now. You are the only one I know of who is mentioning a 2-loss SMU could move out of the playoffs. I have not seen anyone else state that they should.

So If Tennessee would have besting

"What happens if clemson wins? They kicking smu out? It will be interesting how they punish or not punish conference championship "

deerhunter10 asked this question in this thread. I gave him my opinion on this question and you started replying to me. So I didn't start this conversation.

I corrected your mis paraphrasing of the committee spokesman. I wasn't referring to a specific scenario.

Who knows what will happen with this , as I posted in another thread seems you got teams being rewarded for weak schedules. I personally don't care if your 11-1 if you have beaten 11 weak opponents. Go check out Penn State, Indiana, SMU, Notre Dame, Boise State schedules also the Big 12. Some of those 3 loss teams you don't want to see in the playoffs would beat those teams, lots of teams would be 11- 1 or 12-0 if they played their schedules. Like it or not all conferences are not equal and not all schedules have the same quality of opponents on them. There needs to be something for playing quality opponents. Some of the conferences are simply not very strong at all.

I think the only problem with not giving credit for wins, even with a weeks schedule is you're basically telling teams they'll never be in. Look at 10-1 Army, not even in the discussion for 12th place. If they were 11-0 would it be any different? If you're playing in the FBS their should be "a" path to the playoffs rather than a mathematical elimination before a snap is played.

I agree. All wins are not equal and all losses are not equal.

Yep, I get it but do you want the 12 best teams or the 12 best records? I understand what is going on and it is what it is, just saying I guarantee you lots of teams would be 11-1 or 12-0 for instance with the Indiana schedule or SMU schedule. Indiana got hammered by the only 1 decent team they played. Clemson can get in as a 3 loss team, you reckon they are the best 3 loss team in the country ? all they have to do is beat SMU. Reckon Ole Miss, Alabama, South Carolina or numerous others could beat SMU and get in? Again just saying there are flaws. I don't have all the answers but wonder what the Army teams record would be in the SEC or other another major conference, as they play independently ? Beating Holy Cross 17 14 , Leigh, Temple and other such teams and getting beat 49 14 by the one team you did play , you shouldn't be in the discussion ,.love the story and our service academies but they are definitely not 1 of the best 12 teams in the country. To answer your question I absolutely believe if they beat Notre Dame they are in the discussion and probably in the playoffs.
