So, I hit the woods three days last week and found 4-5 gobblers roosting in a deep hollow. Got them talking all three days. So I set up Saturday morning expecting some great action. But the high 50 degree temps and winds at daylight on Saturday morning did nothing but kept them and the hens in the area unusually quiet. Before daylight I did hear something run through the area right under their roosts, and the hens sounded off with some weird putts. I suspect it was bobcats or coyotes, both of which are abundant here. Dawn came and went and besides seeing a few hens fly down and three deer, nothing was talking or moving. Headed north to the head of the hollow and heard a gobbler about 200 yards away. Just a faint single gobble during a break in the wind. Ended up moving back towards where I came from, hit a series of yelps, and about 30 minutes had a mature long beard walk through about 60 yards away. It was just cruising with no apparent destination. I turned and headed downhill, and after it got out of sight, I let out another light series of yelps. No sooner had I finished when this guy come along. Very blond Yote. Head coloring was normal, but rest of his body was pale. Seemed to not have many guard hairs and tail was almost white.
