Pellets are fine until you crack on loading it. Then the burn rate can change dramatically and produce a "flier" in a shot grouping. Loose powder burns more consistently.
Same here...both my CVA Apex and Accura shoots great with 110 grains BH and Barnes TEZ 250Black horn 209 and Barnes TEZ 250 and never look back.
You're saying when the pellets break apart they are less accurate?Pellets are fine until you crack on loading it. Then the burn rate can change dramatically and produce a "flier" in a shot grouping. Loose powder burns more consistently.
Some brands of pellets have a hole through the center of them. They are intended to burn from the center outward. If you crack a pellet, the burn gets into that crack changing the burn rate of the entire pellet, hence changing the speed of the bullet out of the barrel, which can result in an odd "flier" when target shooting (or shooting at an animal). Back when pellets first came out, many shooters mentioned the pellets were great, except now and then they would get an odd flier in their groupings. Cracked pellets were the reason. You're saying when the pellets break apart they are less accurate?
Any tips on preventing cracking? Some brands of pellets have a hole through the center of them. They are intended to burn from the center outward. Mark on your ram-rod where everything is seeded appropriately. Then, just don't push too hard, specifically past your mark. I did mine with a pocket knife.Any tips on preventing cracking?
It seemed like I had to clean after 3-5 shots because it was so dirty I couldn't load another bullet. How often do you clean with pellets?
Anybody use Hodgon Pyrodex?
Interesting. Thx for mentioning. I'll have to be a little more careful when loading. Some brands of pellets have a hole through the center of them. They are intended to burn from the center outward. What JCDEERMAN said. Mark your ramrod and don't push down too hard. You don't want an air pocket between pellets, but you don't want to break the pellet either. Or better yet, go to loose powder.Any tips on preventing cracking?
Same for me out of my Omega. 100 gr of pelletsTriple 7 pellets and tc shockwave 250 gr for me
I shoot an omega as well. Most favorite mz I've owned.Same for me out of my Omega. 100 gr of pellets
Couldn't agree more,. . . . . better yet, go to loose powder.
