Private land January hunt?

Well crap. They went back to just a brief window again. Whatever happened to the "Kill 'em All" mentality of CWD management?

Just double checked the regs and season dates and yep, it looks like the private land January doe hunt is gone. I'm sad about that since a goal of mine is to kill a deer in the snow.

I sure had a great time hunting in the cold and snowy weather the last week of January 2024. I seen tons of activity and it was just nice to break out some cold weather gear and sit in the stand. I really wished TWRA would have left this alone. I took a lot of pictures.

I hate that. I've been trying to get one in the snow with my old smoothbore, but a flintlock can be finicky in the cold, I guess. Six does came out about 30 yards, all I got was a klatch! Not even a flash in the pan. Had a good time though.

Dang I hate that. I usually look forward to that hunt as I get to sit around and relax knowing I don't have to wait for the biguns and just shoot the first thing that comes around.

It's just frustrating because they spend so much time talking about "opportunity" for everybody to duck hunt dwindling duck numbers, but they cut our legs out from underneath us as the deer population skyrockets. Complete crock.

You literally have over three months to kill three a day😂 get out of here with that stupid lame 💩

I always wished they'd take out the October season and replace it with a February season. Or better yet, keep the October season and extend the regular season till the end of February.

I hate hunting in the heat. It's just starting to get cold out and deer season is already almost over.

TWRA could at least provide the rationale for this change !! That's the least they could do. This really stinks in my opinion!
They do if you watch the TWRA meetings on regs changes

They can be found archived on youtube

Lot of commission meetings online

I would rather watch grass grow than watch these meetings. I watched one a couple of years ago and swore I'd never do that again.
When I say, 'they could provide their rationale', I'm talking about here on TNDeer. I'm sure there are plenty of TWRA people on here.

Call your Commissioner.

I'm pretty sure if you do have any TWRA folks on here after running off most with the constant attacks, that they had zero input into the decision and likely know as little as you do on the reasons behind it.

The stated reasons are in the video. Not that many people were hunting those 5 days, and the desire to get all units on the same season dates.
