Rain this weekend

I would ease out of there, get there well before daylight and just listen for some gobbling. You know the general area the birds are in, you should hear some gobbling before the fly down. Once you hear that, set up near the gobbling tom. Less Pressure the better.

I'd also check that field on the back end of the property just be careful going through the woods you might get busted there

Yeah that's the field opposite of the creek. I've been sitting in the bushes at that clay area that is a bowl in the big field. I have seen 2 hens alone so far. Heard plenty of yelps toward the woods so I don't wanna go busting trough there I dont think. Sorry for all the questions. I am a brand new turkey hunter

I am so far thinking of posting up my decoys in the small open area behind the bowl in the morning right out not far off from the creek. That's where I saw the first hen run by when I first got here

Ok no joke I just got a Tom to gobble. I hit my crow call 4 times and he gobbled off in the distance to what sounded my right

Since I heard the gobbles to the right down toward in the woods should I work my ways into the woods to see if I can find and maybe see where they will be roosting for sure? The green in the pic was just a guess by someone that owns the land

No! Back out of there till tommorrow morning be close to where your hearing them at daylight then when they start gobbling ease closer!

Be ready to move on that first gobble in the morning and I wouldn't try to get any closer than 75 yards and I always tell the new guys not to call till they hit the ground. Soft tree yelps have to be just that very soft!

Any other tips I need to know before the morning? If I am getting there before day light and moving to say 75 yards in from where I hear gobble on the roost how would I have time to place my jake and hen decoys?

If you set a jake up make it face you because if he comes in he'll probably come in from the side and then turn straight into him. This will have him looking directly away from you where you can move your gun if needed. As for the bearded regs you can shoot a hen too if she has a beard. Good luck.

thanks..

i just got in from gathering my stuff...putting my full choke in the gun...getting it no-mar'd up with camo etc...im gonna try to be out there about an hour before sunrise...is that about right?

Sitting in my truck waiting on the rain to pass. Radar looks as if it will be over in 30min or so. Good luck all!
