Stick n String Turkey Hunters

If I ever try to bow hunt for turkeys I will not sit in a blind in a field with decoys. Not for me. If I bow hunt for them, I will just do it like I am using a shot gun. Pick the right time to draw on them. If I can't get drawed back, then toug luck. Part of the game.

I don't frown upon blind with decoy hunters, it just aint for me. I like to locate turkeys, manuever on them, cut them off, call them up, whatever. Sitting in a field and waiting with decoys like they do on TV aint for me.

My feelings exactly.

this is exactly how I feel. I move around too much to sit on decoys with a blind, and that's even a worse idea on public land. However I don't knock anyone for hunting that way. It's purely a preference thing

I've actually killed a turkey with a bow with this exact method on some public land you know about lol

I do agree it might not work too well in high pressure areas.
I imagine the birds get pushed to private over there pretty quick? Opening weekend would be good if there aren't too many guys hunting there, I would guess

I love my blind and will probably use it a time or two with the bow especially the big field with Alot of turkeys in it way to many eyes for a chance to open draw

If you have a strutting tom at 15-20 yards and all you have to do is draw when his tail fan is facing you, I bet you might could get a shot at him even if the other birds see you. Just would have to draw and shoot quick...

if I go this spring with one im going to try to get a tree between me and him ill try to draw behind the tree then go. or ill build a little make shift blind.

Texas Heart shot for those hunting sans blind. I tried for several years before I had a single Tom come in. Soon as he was in strut looking away from me, dead bird!

bung hole!

Only using my bow this year. I have a blind but when I do take it seems like I'm only in it for 15 minutes or so. Normally leave it at the house. It is challenging to draw on a bird in the open, but that's part of the challenge. Mistakes will be made, but when you do connect it's a great feeling. I have a weird view on turkeys (and deer for that matter). Calling them within range is 90% of the fun for me, bagging the bird is just icing on the cake. I own guns, I have hunted with guns a lot, but there's just nothing quite like taking animals with a bow and that's what's keeping my guns in the safe, at least for this hunting year. Good luck to you guys this year, I feel like it's going to be a good one.

good luck as of now I plan on hunting a little with a bow. especially if I am fortunate to kill 3 then the forth will try to be killed with a bow. but I am looking forward to going with my bow for sure.

I have a wee competition goin on with BGG on who gets a turkey with a bow this season...

...and I have no intention of losing.

(Granted, we're so competitive its almost a handicap!)

Can I get in on that? ;)

Lol you wanna lose to a girl?! Kidding. ...well maybe kidding

I killed a hen with a bow and no blind. I sat up behind a good size tree with a decoy out front, that way I could draw when the bird is directly in front of me. She stepped out and I leaned a little to the right and killed her.

I plan on killing all but my first bird with a bow this year, unless I hunt some WMA land, then its gun for me.

Friendly challenge is still competition. When all camoed up the bird isnt going to know. If it has a beard in the spring, stick it. Going 50/50 this year, new Knight ML SG and broad head. ;) Swap back and forth. Truth be known, bird with a bow is the most rewarding.
