Stick n String Turkey Hunters

Ready as I'm gonna be. Practiced last night from 50 on my knees and was grouping within a baseball. Won't shoot at a turkey that far, but felt good nonetheless.

Does anyone else practice sitting on the ground? I feel like my groups are sometimes tighter, and it's how I'm going to actually shoot a turkey if do.

I practice shooting my bow on a chair, on my knees, on my butt, contorted different ways in these positions. Never know what kind of shot will present itself. Lets me know what shots are too iffy more than anything. I find on my butt with legs straight out (draw parallel with legs) is pretty challenging, especially if you hold it for any length of time. Been trying to strengthen my core so that I can improve on this shot.

I practice sitting on a small stool. As long as you can maintain your upper body form it's no different than shooting standing up.

Don't forget your quiver with arrows and your release this weekend lol

My hand held release is in my target quiver. I went ahead and put it in my hunting pack so I wouldn't forget.

I always buckled my wrist strap release to my riser so I wouldn't forget my release. I can see myself forgetting my hand held release.

I do the same thing now. I have made it to the top of the tree and had that "dangit!" feeling multiple times.

Have got set up and remember I left the cocking ropes on the tail gate. Good thing I had cocked it. Oh well I'll get one shot hopefully

actually I can hold more steady sitting down be cause only my upper body can freely move instead of standing on 2 legs.

Anyone have any luck today?

I'm going tomorrow morning.

FYI if anyone is looking for black clothing for ground blind hunting I picked up some for cheap at Wal Mart. I got a plain black trucker hat for $4 and a long sleeve Russell Athletic but very lightweight black top for under $15.

I've always worn my camo but trying out the all black clothing this year.

I saw 3 Toms but they wanted nothing to do with me. It was pouring down the rain and they just kept on walking about 60 yards out. Had a nice bobcat come in and sit down 5 yards from my blind. That was pretty cool.

Haven't been out since Sunday. Had another bird come in totally silent not interested in anything I was doing. I positioned myself kind of stupid so probably couldn't have drawn anyway. I wedged myself between a huge forked oak tree and a little mound to where my feet were in line with my eyes. As soon as I saw the Tom I thought "what was I thinking?". It sure was comfortable though. Only heard them gobbling on the roost so far, plan on hitting it hard this weekend so hopefully it's picking up.

Yes been apart of 4 kills already. If you can find one to gobble mid day it seems your in the money. Gobbling like crazy on roost. The rest of the season is about me now.
