Tier 2 Draws

We were drawed for 1 two years ago I think. Didn't turn our paperwork in on time (first year of the tier 2 shenanigans I think) and didn't go obviously. If I recall my thought process correctly, I picked 10 because it was over on the edge of the unit and sort of by itself. Maybe have a better chance at getting first crack at birds and also not have them see other spreads before committing into ours. Might be wishful thinking however.

Anybody any suggestions on Bogota 4?
Where is 1? I don't even see it on onX

Unless your speaking of unit E

Got to love the tier 2 shenanigan's. We drew a blind for this past weekend. Thankful for it and no complaints there. We hunted it Thursday of course, left all our decoys out so we wouldn't have to get there so early Saturday.

We rolled in about 5:30 Saturday morning and there's a group set up at minimum 100 yards away putting decoys and everything all out. While we're putting out pulsators and robos they rode over in their boat asking US what WE were doing, and they didn't think were were allowed to hunt there. Said the tier 2 blinds were closed or something like that....on Saturday of the 2nd opening weekend. Just told them naw man we're here, we drew it, and we're hunting.

It wasn't till they started idling back to where they were set up that I even realized how close they were, so I hollered at them and told them that was just way to close. To their credit they said yes they know and were sorry, went and picked all their stuff up. Looked like they started to go set up over by another blind, but thought better of it and actually just went and put their boat back on the trailer and left all together.

I don't think they meant a thing by it. They knew the blind was there but were just genuinely really confused on the rules. Not sure how you get so confused to think you can set up and hunt there but the blind isn't allowed to hunt, but anyways. They did the right thing and picked up, and we appreciated that.

This isn't all that important, but does anybody know why there aren't any tier 3 options?
I see:
tier 1(season long)
tier 2 (short hunts in govt blinds, right?),
quota spots (short hunts no blinds)
tier 4 (wide open).

TWRA does a poor job IMO of clarifying the blind locations, rules, uses and pretty much anything related to waterfowl hunting in TN. The website is extremely messy and vague and opens the door for situations like you had happen. When local knowledge was the norm everything was much smoother. But since the draw went computer it's like everything went into a bucket and is all mixed up and if you don't have local knowledge you will screw somebody's hunt up. Maybe after 5 years or so of it the travelers will learn their way around as well as the rules and things will get smoother. But right now it's a circus. I heard kids were hunting out of kayaks in Bledsoe creek campground this past weekend.

Great question-it's clear as mud.

Some tier 2 have pools, spots marked, or government built blinds.

think they reverted all tier 3s back into 60 day draws I believe You had the spot for a week and had to hunt out of your boat. Those spots weren't any count and sat vacant most the time from what I remember

Tier 3's were part of the original change proposals. They were probably the dumbest of all the ideas they came up with, and they reverted them back to how it was before season ever started.

I suppose it is different area to area and unit to unit within the areas, but I thought that where there were Tier 1 Tier 2 blinds within the same unit or pools, there was no freelancing (set up 200 yards away from blind or other parties)?

An example would be Thorny or Tully Fig Field. There is space and places to hunt where you would be 200 yards away from a Tier 2 blind but you aren't allowed to hunt those specific units unless you are drawn.

^That was how I understood it but like was also said, it is clear as mud and seems to be different place to place so I may be way off base.

At this particular place you have tier 1 and 2 blinds, but they also allow boat blind hunting as long as you are 200 yards away from the blinds. This place isn't that big and it was a complete yugo show and that 200 yards was ignored by several parties especially Thursday. You'd have thought it was Arkansas with the people already lining up down the road at before lunch they day before season even opened back up. I heard it was even worse for the first opener.

Weird. I sort of thought the purpose of stakes and blinds was to both limit and space the parties in there. Opening it up to 200 yards defeats that imo.

If the name of their game was "more opportunity," and they have stated that several times, everything should be first-come, first-serve, 200 yards and let the chips fall where they may.

Sounds like to me T-Dub is either trying to have their cake and eat it t0o (essentially trying to please all parties, or just the opposite) or are just inept at juggling as many balls as they are attempting to.

Bogota was slow for me. One hen spoon and shot at some passing woodies.

Didn't really see ducks so decided to not bother with hotel room. Scouted some other wma's and came back home.

Talked to a few folks around and they all said the same thing, few ducks around.

Hopefully gets better.
