Time to take up for CBJ and other coaches...

Talk about the first and goal from the one, a run play WAS called! Dormady audibled out of run because they had 9 in the box. Kid made a big mistake, unless it was caught.

I thought it was a good call with a 6'2" WR that won a 50/50 ball earlier against a young CB. I have noticed that no one has mentioned what a great pick that Dawson made on that drive to keep points off the board. Most DBs couldn't reach behind them and make that play.

Goal line ,I want to see a Jumbo set. QB under center. Run JK behind Trey Smith, with Shy Tuttle as lead blocker. :tu:

Looked like a slant to me and Palmer didnt run the route right.

Callaway had been snatching those passes in previous games and one in this game. John Kelly had also been getting stuffed between the tackles also. Hindsight, I dont really have a problem with the call either. Dormady probably did the right thing but the execution wasnt exactly there.

You would be correct my friend and bring up a good point. Up to that point Kelly was having an avg. day and getting stuffed in short yardage downs. Kelly didn't pick up steam until the 4th qt. UF's defense was out of gas from being on the field an extra 20 more plays due to UFs offense not making 1st downs. Fans watch the game and see all the plays that Kelly made in the 4th qt. but that wasn't a factor at the time when UT was stopped on the goal line. Fans sometimes don't live in the moment.

Great post, GNB. It is amazing that within the Vol "fans" that when something goes well that it is in spite of their head coach, and when something goes wrong, all the blame ends up on him. In reality, the last play of the game should have been a non-issue. The officials swallowed their whistles on the last two plays of the game and let blatant Gator penalties go uncalled. UT may have still found a way to lose in OT, but not on that dagger.

But, still it is all Butch's fault. Amazing.
Im not saying this didn't happen, but what were the uncalled penalties? I haven't heard any talk about them aside from a hold on kongbo that I also heard wasn't really a hold once there was some more study regarding the play.

Check out Frank Beamer's first 6 seasons at VA Tech. 24-40-2.

UT had 7 NFL draft picks last Spring. That's more than they had the prior 6 or 7 drafts combine. He's rebuilt the proud program from the dumpster fire it was during the Kiffin/Dooley years. UT is not going to get a Saban or Meyer. It's going to be a MAC, AAC, or Mtn West coach.

The lineman is reaching and pulling Kongbo's jersey. How is it not holding?

There are three problems with the pic. First... The center has picked the ball up off the ground to be ready to snap it. If the ball was still laying flat before the center picked it up, it's pretty close.

Second... The lines on TV isn't official marks. That's why they still use chains.

Third.... The outside WR will have the referee line him up. Next time you watch a game. Watch the WR pointing towards the ref to make sure he's okay. When have you ever saw a flag thrown on a WR for lining up offsides???? Several have been flagged for lining up in the backfield and that's normally the slot receiver.

The refs aren't to blame for UT losing the game.

You can see the Ref & the official first down line between the refs legs in the pic also.... the UF Reciver is past them both it looks like lol. His clearly in front of the ball that's about to be snapped when that pic was took also.

But I know what's your saying about checking with the fef

Offsides or not the big play should have never happened.

Have you ever saw an outside WR called for linning up offsides? No.... Because it's almost impossible to line up perfect from 20 to 25 yards from the ball. That's why the ref will assist the WR.... Just fans looking hard for excuses.... Blame the refs... :tu:

That's why I said I understand what your saying about checking with the ref.

If the ref gives the Ok then he can't turn around & throw the flag.

Like I said offsides or not the vols should have never left UFs best receiver get behind them for a winning 50 yard bomb with 9 seconds left. Vols have no one to blame but themselves.

Blame the refs is directed at the individual that was looking for an excuse and created the pic.

Was not blaming refs for a loss. I know the lines aren't official. The officials only tell if you are offsides if you ask. If a WR can't tell how can he. .? I know how it works and the rules. I have coached for many years.

It makes zero difference now and absolutely is not the reason TN lost. But anybody with two eyes can see that he is lined up offsides. The ref who is standing on the first down marker, may in fact have lined him up there and if so, that is the refs mistake. He could have moved the WR back but did not.

The whole wr is 20 yards from the ball and dont always know exactly where the line is thing is a little weak. Its everybodys, including the refs, job to know where the LOS is. If its ok for wide outs to not line up onside every play, why do we even have a LOS. Screw it, line up where ever you want to.

And we are talking about inches.... :rotf: If the ball was laying flat before the center tilted it. We might be talking and inch or two. Can anybody remember what happened on that play????

A simple answer to your question that I have pointed several times. When is the last time you have ever saw an outside WR called for lining up off-sides..... :tu:

It's fun beating a dead horse that doesn't exist... :)
