The last two games of the season sure reminded me a lot of Butches last two games. Allowing close to 100 points in two games is terrible. Maybe it was the fact we went against two really good and seasoned QBs the last two games but DANG. Those hurt. Now rumors are flying that they think OC Tyson Helton is out??? We ended the KY game feeling good and ready to finish strong. What happened? Did we get out coached? Was everyone's players that much better? Did our guys give up?

All year Pruitt has said "wait until I get my guys in here". I hope this doesn't hurt recruiting that much. Unless Helton is wanting out, I don't see firing him after 1 year.

I hope JP can get things going over the summer. For the record, I'm still on board with JP and think he will do better than Butch. The inconsistency of games has me wondering where the real problems are.

If Helton leaves this year, it will be his decision. With Tee Martin being demoted down from OC at Southern Cal, there are rumors the Helton may be going back there. But it won't be before early signing day.

We have lots and lots of problems. Can't pinpoint it to just one area. In fact, I can't think of one area that we were strong in including coaching

Yeah he is gonna learn on the go. Seemed like he built a pretty good staff. If Helton leaves TN is a draw for a OC.

May take a few more years before you can really judge him.

I think it's time to wake up and realize coaching is not the problem at vols.

Butch Jones is at ALABAMA and he does not seem to be slowing us down any . vols have a Head coach fresh off the #1 program in the NCAA

All the preaching that fat Phil did when he came in about having the best of facilities the best of this and the best of that don't mean squat when u have the upper office in play behind the scenes pulling the strings and holding the program back .

I'm sure there will be the usual talk in two or three years about firing JP and starting over when the SEC victories and NC don't come ur way but I just don't see it happening for the vols even with my ALABAMA blinders on till some serious moves are made in the upper office . That's my humble opinion .

Hiring fat Phil back was a huge mistake . If he is doing anything other than PR work or shaking hands with donors at the program he is a cancer for the program .

For him to be stepping into the field at practice for any reason other than to bring by alumni donors by in order to get them to write a check is just stupid !

A bammer dont like Phil Fulmer. Who woulda thought...

Anyway, ROSTER FLIP is what it going to take. Too many guys have been doing what THEY wanted to do instead of what coaches wanted them to do for way too long on the Hill. When JP gets some more guys in, the free ride will be over for a lot of them.

Just to be clear, I am not "judging" CJP as of yet. But if you have WATCHED the UT games, the coaching would leave you scratching your head to say the least. I am all for giving him 5 years. I'm sick of the coaching carousel. With that being said, just because he comes as an assistant from bammer, certainly does not make him an elite head coach. I hope that's what he turns into by all means but it not certain just because he has been a successful assistant at all his stops. Call Phil fat if you like but the guy is orange through and through and I'm glad he is back.

And you don't know if Butch has had any positive impact on the team. He has zero on-field responsibilities.
There's probably going to be 12-15 players gone from this roster and most won't be by their choice. They would have been gone in the spring but with the lack of depth, you have to have bodies to fill the positions even if they suck.
These are still Butch's players with the same attitude. They treated the S&C program as optional to the point that Butch let the S&C coach go and didn't hire another for a whole year.

I understand that Trey Smith was a 5* and the #1 lineman out of high school, but there is no way that a true freshman should be the strongest lineman the day he steps on campus.

not really, he's a poor developer of talent. its not plug and play out of high school. he got the players.....he just ruined them more or less. Kamara is a great example of his blunder as a coach

So some how I was right when it was pointed out that all those great recruiting classes that CBJ signed were smoking mirrors....
If it was the recruits, then all the recruiting analysts that rank classes were wrong.
It was the development of the recruits.

Spoken like a true Bammer. Fulmer lived in Alabama's head while he was coach, and it is obvious he still does.

He did it with over signing and bringing in 33 to 35 recruits each class. The star rating avg. was low for the rankings and of course when you over sign you have a % that transfers and leave the program.

A great example would be signing a 4 star passing QB when you run a read option offense. Dormady would be that example and it was also pointed out on here when he was signed.
