I understand that Trey Smith was a 5* and the #1 lineman out of high school, but there is no way that a true freshman should be the strongest lineman the day he steps on campus.

So some how I was right when it was pointed out that all those great recruiting classes that CBJ signed were smoking mirrors....
If it was the recruits, then all the recruiting analysts that rank classes were wrong.
It was the development of the recruits.

He did it with over signing and bringing in 33 to 35 recruits each class. The star rating avg. was low for the rankings and of course when you over sign you have a % that transfers and leave the program.

A great example would be signing a 4 star passing QB when you run a read option offense. Dormady would be that example and it was also pointed out on here when he was signed.
33-35 every class? 2013-2017 he over signed by a combined total of 7.

Actually 8. Or was 2018 the class that Pruitt put together?

Wonder what our record would have been with Sciano?

As I said all year this oline is the main culprit, followed closely by dline.

You can't give Pruit too much credit for last year's class and here's the two reason why. First of all last season was the first years for an early signing period. Second of all CJP decided he was going to stay with Bama to after the NC game.

not really, he's a poor developer of talent. its not plug and play out of high school. he got the players.....he just ruined them more or less. Kamara is a great example of his blunder as a coach

The only players that were going to excel on Saturdays under Butch were the ones that were plug and play or those who picked up on the college game on their own. Butch doesn't even rate as 'poor' on player development.

Butch 'got the players' because he would say anything it took to land a prospect. It didn't matter if a player fit into his system, if he was highly rated, Butch would take him.

Lineman vs lineman
See the difference?

Hugh Freeze as OC?

With early signing period coming up, hopefully we get someone with some ties to some good ball players.

Alabama QB coach might be another name in the mix.

I saw that about Freeze... Not a good look for anyone to hire him IMO. Dirty coach.

I think he deserves another chance. I'd be on board with the hire. He is currently listed as the OC of the new pro league though so i'm not sure if that factors in. Bottom line, I don't think we get him.

I made a similar comment last week while watching the Vandy Ole Miss game. All I had really watched all season was the top tier teams and none of the bottom tier teams. They seemed MUCH smaller and everything seemed like it was in slow motion.
