What’s wrong with our sport

I've never understood why hunters want to bash other hunters about the way they like to hunt? We get enough of that from the anti's! Whether it's the ground hunters bashing the treestand hunters, the bowhunters bashing the rifle hunters, or the non decoy users bashing the decoy users. Who cares? I have a couple private farms that I hunt. I usually put a ground blind on both of them. I rarely sit in them, but it's nice if it starts raining or if I bring my boys. I've used decoys before and if I live til season starts, I'll use them again. Do I use them every time? No. In some states, it's legal to hunt with a high powered rifle. I personally don't want to shoot one with a rifle, but I'm not gonna give somebody hell that does. I might be different, but I could care less what means other people use as long as it's legal. Just my .02

I think the issue is sometimes what is legal may not be ethical and what is ethical may not be legal. I personally do not have any issues except with rifle hunting turkeys, due to safety. I do have issues when regulators use what is legal to drive sales. We need to focus on game management and sometimes that is people management. Method and means can be used to limit harvests.

I'm not wanting to be in the woods with people shooting rifles at them either, but I'm not gonna stand in their way if I don't agree with it. I've had many fun hunts where I've killed turkeys over decoys and I've had many where I didn't. Shoot, carry in a dozen if you want to tote them. I'm not gonna judge anybody on how they prefer to hunt, as long as it's legal. It's not for me to decide whether decoys are ethical or not. Whether the state sets the limits at 1 or 4, I don't care if you kill 1 or 4 . Can every piece of land sustain that? Probably not, but it's not for me to decide what you or whoever kills or whether my hunting style jives with yours or his. Like the title says, it's OUR sport, not just mine or yours.

Lothar, it may be your opinion that's its not up to you to set rules and limits, BUT as a sportsman you do have a voice. When we see things that we know are not right it is our responsibility to speak up and not just turn our heads and say its not up to me to do anything. These type attitudes, and I'm not saying you have one, are whats wrong with many aspects of OUR country today. Its just not limited to turkey hunting.

I respect your point of view but not everything that's legal is okay. I'm not okay with abortion or legalized marijuana.

What kind of attitude do I have? I'm just saying don't judge me or whoever just because it's not something you agree with. That's what the liberals do! I guess I've got better things to do than complain because I other people's beliefs are different than mine. If you want to smoke pot, then smoke pot. That's entirely up to you. Times are changing...most of the time it's not for the good. I understand that not all areas can sustain a 4 turkey limit, but not everybody kills 4. Most kill 0. Everybody has their opinion of what the limit should be or the manner and means of harvest. The commission could care less what the sportsmen want, but let one of their wives say that they think we are killing too many then they will lower the limit or change the way we can hunt. It all boils down to money. Always has and always will IMO.
