IMO this day and age that's stupid, like having a single shot rifle season. Just my opinion and that don't count for much. But the regulations aren't performance based. It was based simply on how you load it.

You got bows shooting like rifles. I don't get the hate of not wanting a single shot rifle in deer season. Or just do away with muzzleloader season altogether.IMO this day and age that's stupid, like having a single shot rifle season. Just my opinion and that don't count for much.
As long as we can use shotguns during archery then it would make perfect sense. You got bows shooting like rifles. I don't get the hate of not wanting a single shot rifle in deer season. Or just do away with muzzleloader season altogether.
Guess the rest complained about it enough for them to change it for 2024-25. Glad we didn't sell our accuras like many others did. What's funny about all this is that some, who griped about it being unfair for cwd unit hunters to get to hunt with rifles early, posted pics of their success with rifles before statewide rifle season opened. Sure some get lucky and get to rifle hunt early on quota hunts or wmas, but what about the rest of us......Correct, but what about the rest of us.
Was it complaints or did the Twra realize doing away with muzzleloader season had little to no bearing on anything.Guess the rest complained about it enough for them to change it for 2024-25. Far as the straight wall, I may or may not have won a 45-70(online contest ended in September and I have not received anything yet), not so sure it has any advantage over my accura aside from being able to chamber a round faster than reloading. I think the accura actually has better ballistics. Most deer I killed with muzzleloader required just one shot, chambering a second round a few seconds faster isn't really a huge advantage.
From what I was to understand, it was complaints, crying over how it was unfair to the rest of the state. They didn't really do away with muzzleloader season in cwd unit, they just allowed for rifles during the statewide muzzleloader season in cwd unit, anyone that wanted to could still use their muzzleloaders. Also gave opportunity to hunt with rifle that week of archery immediately following the juvenile hunt. Was it complaints or did the Twra realize doing away with muzzleloader season had little to no bearing on anything.
Exactly. I took advantage of the early rifle in cwd in both 2022 and 2023, may otherwise not have killed the deer last year because he may not have hung around. Killed him before the statewide muzzleloader opened, he was well within the effective range of a modern crossbow. The 2022 deer was in bow range and killed during the muzzleloader season. If the goal is to stop CWD why go back?
Especially on private land?
