Year in and year out, their isn't a conference in the country that is the grind from top to bottom like the SEC.

I would love to have seen ucf get in. I have much respect for frost and I hope he gets Nebraska back to competing for a nc. With that said, any of the 4 teams in the playoffs would have boat raced them. They didn't play the auburn that shows up at Jordan hare. They played a team that thought they were going to be in the run for a national championship to playing in a meaningless bowl game.
Baker would prob hang 70+ if Riley let him. Georgia and Bama would rush over 300 and have their qb begging to get off the field. Clemson would have smacked em around like Miami.
I wish they would go to a 6 team if not 8 team playoff. The top 6 teams are usually so close that's why people feel like they got screwed when their team didn't get in.
I'm all crimson but this match up has me more worried than Clemson. Fromm is a better qb than Bryant. Rb duo is ridiculous. Defense is top notch. Kirby knows Nick. I don't like jalen as the qb. Great athlete but terrible passer and to quick to run if the first read isn't there. If I'm Kirby I'm making Jalen beat me.
With that said, if Bamas D shows up like this past monday Georgia is in trouble. I'm going 24- 17 Bama

I've said before I think Hurts will be Alabama's JT Barrett. When his college career is done, he'll own all the records and win a lot of games, including maybe this year's national championship. Similar to Barrett, leadership and the intangibles seem to be his strong suit along with running ability, but downfield accuracy is a huge issue with him. The last two seasons especially, Barrett had sort of two different seasons each year - first half very strong in the passing game, but a second half of the season a huge struggle. For example, this year going into the Iowa game he had thrown 25 TDs and just one INT over the first 7 games, but threw 10 TDs and 8 INTs the final 6 games. Similar stats last year. Barrett rushed the ball 205 times in 2016 and 165 times in 2017 (656 total rushes for his career, and that doesn't include sacks and QB hits). Those amount of rushes take a toll on the legs and I think his second half of the season performances in 2016 and 2017 had as much to do with the toll his legs were taking as his arm talent, play calling/scheme, WRs, etc. It's telling that in the B1G championship game and Cotton Bowl this year Ohio State jumped out to leads against Wisconsin and USC and then started running the clock out in the second quarter of each game and relied on the defense to hold the lead (unlike against Clemson last year when they had Barrett throw the ball all over the place and got blown out). Had Barrett not gotten hurt against Michigan, I think Ohio State would have lost that game, because he didn't have the ability to bring them back. I didn't watch the Bama v Clemson game, but from reading it seems like Alabama's game plan was similar (which is why Saban ripped Dabol a new one when he called two straight pass plays late in the game.) Jalen Hurts rushed 191 times in 2016 and 148 times so far for the 2017 season (339 total). Barrett's first two seasons as a starter he rushed a total of 286 times (but his second season he shared starts with Cardale Jones). Hurts is already ahead of Barrett in number of rushes and its all going to catch up with him.
Hurts will go down in the pantheon of Crimson Tide greats when it's all said and done, but you'll be happy when his career ends.

Well said schioto. Jalen and JT are pretty much one the same. From what glimpse I've seen from Tua I would love to see him have a chance at the starting position next year. Granted he was put in against weak teams that were already blown out you could see the potential was there. Hard to argue against a QB that has a record of 25-2 though so looks like I'll have to watch Jalen 2 more years.

I've said the same about JT since he took over at QB. Never understood the praise. Great athlete just not someone that has the complete skills for QB. Already been reading talk about Jalen will be in the run for the heisman next year and I'm sitting here thinking huh?

JT went 49-6. National champion. Two Big Ten titles. Was 4-0 vs the skunk weasels. Big Ten QB of the year three times. Broke Drew Brees' Big Ten yardage records. Owns every Ohio State QB record (finally getting the multiple felon Art Schlicter out of the record books). And a lot of Buckeye Nation can't wait for the Dwayne Haskins era to start. I admit I'm one of them. After all "fan" is short for "fanatic." The back up QB is often the most popular player on the team. You are spot on, Scioto in that a lot of times we don't realize and appreciate just how good we have it until it is gone. Josh Dobbs will ALWAYS be one of my favorite Vols due to him being such a classy young man and great ambassador for the Vols. But, I will confess at being frustrated by some of his passing limitations. I looked forward to having a "real" quarterback this year. After a year without Dobbs, I was quick to realize that his athletic abilities masked a lot of the issues in the offense he was being asked to run. It would have been interesting to see what he could have done with some real coaching.
