You're about to take a shot at a mature whitetail deer at 150yds.

You have two choices.

-A 55 grain bullet traveling 3700fps
-A 100 grain bullet traveling 2800fps

Which do you choose and why?

Bullet construction in both rounds is suitable for deer-sized game.

I will take slower and heavier , just because im a shoulder shooter!!! Either one will work just fine through the rib cage
Heavier bullet as well. If your not careful those fast bullets going through the ribcage will kill them but have seen those little holes stop up with the stomach lining . Almost lost a good ten point because of that but did find him with no blood trail.

The 100 grn but 800 lbs elk are killed regularly with 30-06s, for scale of size if an 06 is ok for elk a 223 type round for 150 lbs deer shouldn't be outta bounds?
I guess that would depend on distance and POI for .223.
When I used to go rifle season that's all I used was a 30-06, took many and never lost one. Son used to use a .270, same results. But range was always a factor to us.
