Over kill when 9s will do the job at 75+ yards...
Are you saying a #9 TSS will consistently shoot thru a turkey's skull at that range?

I know 8.5s will completely pass through breast and breast bone at 50

Ok is this the wrong thinking? If I loaded 2 oz of tss # 7 wouldn't that have more knock down power say at longer distance???

Stick with 8's 8.5s or 9s

I've seen some gel test stuff on TSS and the last one I saw showed TSS 9 penetrating at 68yds what lead 6 did at 42 yds. It will wreck a turkey well past what you ever need to shoot

I'd speculate it's been a combination of two main reasons:

1) They haven't felt it would be profitable, and couldn't afford to lose huge amounts of money in finding out.

The market for TSS has been mainly a relatively small number of turkey hunters. Keep in mind the majority of turkey hunters are making their purchase decisions mainly on price, still opting for lead turkey loads, not even opting for the HTL (simply "heavier than lead") superior turkey shells which are widely available and less costly than if they were loaded with TSS.

2) Increased liabilities. There is less liability when a handloader purposefully chooses TSS for his loads, since the liability I'm talking about is the increased range of it being lethal, and how much more it will penetrate compared to lead.

But with more awareness being raised :)
would be nice to see Federal come out with a new "Super Heavyweight", maybe with an initial offering in #8.5 size shot.
Federal has already "pushed this envelope" farther than any other major manufacturer (with their "Heavyweight" line).

Winchester has gone the opposite direction, trying to market longer-range lead shells, and currently doesn't even manufacture an HTL turkey shell. Neither does Remington. At one time, I was very pleased with the Winchester Extended Range HTL turkey loads, which I liked much better than other brands.

I have a Mec shotgun reloader. Could I set it up to load these??
Yes, or you could use a roll crimper and literally load them on your tailgate if you had a cordless drill and all of the components. It is that easy once you get all of your components.

In addition shot size requirement of states may push out some of the would be profit as well. If you can't shoot 9 shot in a specific state then you will loose that state in sales.

The actual reloading part is very easy. I made a couple calls to Adam and a few others when I was getting started but it didn't take long to get it all down.

My main recommendation is build a shot trap so you are not just wasting shot when trying to do testing
