We have exceeded the 2010 spring harvest record with 10 days of hunting left. Ignore the shades of blue for each county. I'm not a fan of how the shading/coloring changes year to year based on the highest kill counties setting the ceiling value, and then trickles down to lowest kill counties, or with the spread of kills across each shade of blue changing every year as well. In short, you cannot do a quick glance year to year and compare shades of blue to see how many counties fall into each shade.

Dang. That's mowing them down. I just hope it don't hurt the population so bad they can't at least recover where they was.

I think localized areas will see a noticeable decline in gobblers after this year's harvest. But I've also seen and heard reports of many longbeards and jakes that have survived this far. Covid didn't wipe out the turkeys, it just put a bigger dent than usual. With the early warm weather we had, I saw birds acting frisky back in February, I hope the hens were bred pretty good before opening day. I'll be keeping an eye out for poults during my summer deer scouting trips.

are we gonna set a new record?
We exceeded the old 2010 record (37,110) last Wed/Thurs time frame. See my post above about exceeding it with 10 days of hunting left. Weather looks pretty dismal this week in my parts, which will keep a lot of hunters at the office/house.

Everybody will be selling there stuff in the next 2yrs due to frustration. Twra left the hen fall season go on for to long. I've seen dramatic decline in population on farms by house. Some of the farms have no hunting.

Make that 40,052

Absolutely unbelievable.

Not only did we end season with a a record harvest but North Cumberland WMA had its on little drama, they ended with a unfortunate bang in of itself.

Amazing! Congrats to all the successful hunters!

I can't say I know anyone that had a stellar season most in my group average or below!? I know we left plenty of birds for next year. More gobbling birds than I thought we had on opening day were heard in last couple days! With the Jake numbers I feel great about next season!

I had a better season than usual and I know a few guys who also had great seasons. Also know there are some birds left for seed in a lot of places. We will see next year what places took the hardest hit. Right now it's hard to tell

Not me last year much better! Pulled the trigger on first 4 hunts in 19! Two 30 yard misses of course... Nothing changed in my spots birds henned up today same as they were opening day!

Wow, TN may claim the trophy for most birds killed in the USA. If that plus a 4 bird limit doesn't put it on the top of the radar for every travelling NR hunter, I don't know what will.

I have mixed feelings... part of me fears we may have severely impacted our birds for the future, part of me thinks the rest of the state outside my small bubble must be doing great.

I'm thinking more and more that TN is blessed with pockets of insane numbers, and if you want to be successful, you just have to give up on your local areas that won't ever have birds again and focus on travelling to the hotspots.

Regardless, it'll be hard for the commission to vote any change with so many vocal hunters wanting to keep a 4 bird limit and premature season start when the state sets a record kill.

Here's to hoping we have a 4 poilt per hen hatch this year to replace the removed males!
