Went over today and did a little work on the ground blind:
I gotta go back and cut some "835 windows" out. ;)

Even swept out the inside:

Looks good.

Might need to put some kind of roof over it to increase the shading. Because of this, cedar trees that have lots of low hanging branches can be an excellent place to build a blind.

Looks real good. I was planning to build at least one or two of those on public land all winter but haven't done it yet. I'd have to use only dead wood on the WMA because cutting trees/vegetation is prohibited. I could have done it while scouting this morning but I decided to walk around instead.

For those of you who may be tree huggers ( I would hope there would be none, but you never know these days), just know that I DID NOT cut any trees. Those cedars were pushed (dozed) over to make a road thru the property. I simply used the natural resources given me. ;)

It ain't me, it's the WMA regulations, and for a good reason... we don't want all the hunters coming in cutting their own shooting lanes or chopping trees down to use for blinds or whatever. There's a difference between tree hugger and environmentalist...keeping the land in good shape for the sake of the wildlife, ecosystem, and ourselves is worthwhile IMO. If you have your own land and want to cut down some trees for a food plot, then have at it. Cutting trees isn't going to ruin the place at all, but it makes sense to prohibit it on public land where anyone could come in and cut stuff down.

I could take some of the cedars from your land and put them on Yanahli to build a blind..... imagine trying to explain that to the warden... "I didn't cut these trees down here, they came from somewhere else!"
