CFP question

Good, but might also be overrated since the SEC is mediocre this year.

My main point is that Alabama hasn't beaten anyone good yet.

Another point is that we know you are a closet Bammer fan, so just come out of the closet and take your lickings from Spurhunter.

Bamaproud might be the only one capable of answering this question. After the Buckeyes' domination of _ichigan today, they have one loss. The same number of losses as both Alabama and Oklahoma who are both currently ranked #2 and #3 in the latest CFP poll. Yet, Ohio State's loss is to a much higher ranked team than either of Bama's or the Sooners' (the Sooners loss was to an unranked team with a losing record).

I know what the common refrain will be so try to have an original thought. As a twist, Oklahoma is in the Big 12 not the "best conference in the world. Ever." Baylor lost. If Stanford beats ND (or maybe even if the Irish win) and If MSU beats Penn State which looks highly likely and MSU beats Iowa, I can foresee two B1G teams in the playoffs. Oklahoma losing will really help, but after Ohio State's absolute domination of the skunk weasels, things could get very interesting starting 12/1.

Its pretty simple. Strength of schedule.

It may not be the answer you want to hear, but it is the truth.

Assuming ND wins today, CFP top 7 should be:

1-Clemson
2-Iowa
3-MSU
4-ND
5-OSU
6-Alabama
7-OU/Ok State winner

Temporal proximity of loss is not on the "Committee's" list of factors it considers. ND lost to undefeated #1 Clemson. OSU lost to MSU currently #5. Alabama lost in bad fashion to a team that might be unranked after today. Oklahoma lost to an unranked Texas with a losing record.

I asked for original thinking. If strength of schedule matters, please explain OU.

Get ready.

Why would you make such a silly set of assumptions?

yep. the ones that have zero football IQ think every top 10 team should win 49-0. like auburn, the game was on the road and everyone talks about how tough it is on the road in hostile environments. this was auburns super bowl, they played great on D until BAMA's plan(wear down the D) kicked in.

That's the answer. As of today, Oklahoma has the #1 Strength of Schedule in the entire NCAA followed by Alabama as #2. Ohio State comes in at #35. Unfortunately for OSU, they're hurt by the fact that the Big-10, outside of the top 4 teams, has been very mediocre. As a result, OSU has played a bunch of teams with average-to-bad records, most of which have also played a bunch of teams with average-to-bad records. Since strength-of-schedule is your opponents' records multiplied by their opponents' records, the overall softness in the Big-10 really hurt OSU.

The way I see it, assuming Clemson and Bama win their championship games:

1. Clemson
2. Alabama
3. Michigan State/Iowa winner
4. Oklahoma
leaving Ohio State at #5 in the bridesmaid seat.

Now if either North Carolina or Florida pulls the upset, things will get interesting and there is a very good chance OSU would grab that 4th spot.

Yes, I watched the best team they played, Tennessee, choke away a 4th quarter lead to keep the Bammers hopes alive. I also saw them lose at home to Ole Miss who gashed them through the air.

To show that I am fair and balanced, ND choked away the game last night in the last minute.....although they did cover on the road, so technically viewed as a win.

so the committee and "all" cfb analysts should contact you because they obviously have no clue[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Bammers made their big jump back up in the rankings after they beat LSU, who has since been proved to be a pretender.

I'm simply looking at the list of Bammer wins, since the wins of non-SEC teams are being critiqued by the SEC homers.

Bammers will likely have the least impressive resume of the 4 playoff teams. Hopefully that will translate to another first round exit for the SEC and their one good team.

ya, good point :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

I told yall last week that the Playoff has already been decided

Quote:

Our playoff will be:
Alabama or Clemson in the #1 spot.
Alabama or Clemson in the #2 spot.
The winner of the Big 10 (Either Michigan State or Iowa) in the 3rd spot.
The winner of the OK/OK State this weekend or Baylor in the 4th spot.

Endquote.

Nothing has changed for 3 of the 4 spots...OU locked up their spot. Bammer and Clemson are in.

Just need to see who wins the MI State/Iowa game. This stuff is easy. I thought Meteorologists had the easiest job in the world. :)

First, Ohio State blew it by losing to Sparty. :livid:

Second, Florida is your SEC East Champion. :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: Pathetic, inept.

Third, SEC homers love SoS. Thus, top 4 should be:

1-OU
2-Bama
3-Baylor :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:
4-Ole Miss :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

I find it amusing how you proponents of SoS conveniently leave out #3 and #4.

Fourth, SoS is clearly a flawed statistic, but I'm not a statistician. Could one of the resident statisticians and SEC/Alabama homers please explain what a team's opponents' records and their opponents' records have to do with playing and winning the game on any given Saturday? Answer, nothing. If it did, then the top 4 on 1/13/2015 should have been:

1-Auburn
2-Alabama
3-Ole Miss
4-Arkansas

These teams were 1-3 in bowl games against allegedly lesser, weaker competition.

Oregon was 5 and Ohio State was 6. You know the rest of that story.

Sixth, lies, **** lies, and statistics.

It doesn't matter what any of us think. The Selection Committee members are the only ones who matter, and they have clearly said that SoS matters. :tu:

SOS is a tool the committee will use for relevant teams, being from ohio...dont worry about it
