This post gets my blood boiling as well. I agree 100% with BSK, this is all about respect....for the deer, the hunt, and yourself. I love hunting but I'll straight up tell you I don't enjoy killing. Yes, it's necessary and I do it. But when I kill a deer I do my part to ensure that it dies as quickly and humanely as possible.
Same here. Killing has never given me joy. It's the only part of hunting i don't enjoy. Never have. I never could understand the guys who shoot groundhogs and crows for fun. To me killing is a necessary part of being a predatory carnivore, and that's all. The only good feelings I get from a kill is the relief when it's quick and sufferless. I can enjoy the heck out of the hunt and feel sense of accomplishment & gratitude when getting it done, while simultaneously feeling solace or even melancholy about the death. Both things are true.
