Sounds like scope. Muzzleloaders shred scopes.
I shoot the 45 cal. Hornady SST's and 150 grains of the triple 7 pellets along with several people I know. All in Knight Rifles but all with great success. 9 out of 10 don't get out of sight if they don't immediately go down. Massive holes, normally an exit and plenty of blood. Never considered deviations in the powder, but definitely something to consider.
I will echo the concern over the sst's . always a dead deer, but rarely any sort of blood trail. Small hole going in, and small hole coming out, if they exited. Sure, the insides were jelly but a deer can go a long way with no lungs. I switched to XTP's and am considering the Barnes.I don't have the best opinion on the sst. I would opt for an xtp or even a Barnes, tho I don't love the Barnes as much. If you can find the Parker ballistic extreme that's what I would use if I needed to shoot further than 100 yards regularly
So it went from accurate to all over the place. Check scope mount. Send scope to manufacturer to test it. If all are good, Check the muzzle crown. I had a damaged crown drive me crazy trying to determine what changed.
I think you solved it!Holy crap just messed with scope and I am getting a slight wobble on the mount to the gun... I guess it jarred loose. Cant believe this.
Had the same situation a few years ago. It was the scope. You've got a defective scope on your hands. Almost guarantee it. Replace the scope and you'll be off to the races.Shelving my muzzleloader or selling it CVA Optima. I can't fathom how I have such bad luck. 3 mature bucks in a row now with no recovery. Not wanting to go into details but bumped one, missed one and did not mortally wound one.. (hopefully).
I don't understand how it has gotten so off went from automatic shoot and go get buck to all over place. My son shot his first buck with it in 2022 right through the heart. After that I missed one and put it on paper and its 12" high? Dialed it in and when I put it on sled this year was again 9" high? Got it back to zero but then I missed a couple coyotes? Shot paper again and almost on?
Anyways I'm beside myself I'll wait for rifle I guess..
Break it all down and retighten with lock tite

Yep you can, just take it all apart, apply blue loctite to screws and torque everything back downI have never messed with scope. I have them mounted and bore sighted at place of purchase. Also never had an issue. Not sure I can use this same mount again..
I will second this. Not sure what bases/rings you're running but that is one of the reasons I love the DNZ mounts. Less to loosen up.
