Late season

This year, I've seen similar to muddy's. Haven't heard a gobble in 2 weeks. Gobblers on plot watchers but always midday and not strutting . It's been a weird year, even though late season has been great in years past

Usually we kill more than that.
Killing more one season is one thing, sustaining that over a period of 5-10 years is very impressive and not something I would bet would continue repeating itself. It seems like you all rely HEAVILY on your hatch each spring (big gamble IMO) with little to no carry over from the season. Is this correct?

LOTS of people do this year after year and then all of sudden their places arent as good and dont understand why.....must be decline population due to bad hatches, disease, etc. In reality over-hunting is the real issue. :bash:

It's generally good this late where I live and hunt. However, I don't have but just a few days left that I can go. I have two areas on the public land I hunt that I haven't been to yet that I really want to explore so I'll probably hit them up during the 3 days I have left.

Man it's good habitat. We have 13 members and really don't limit to what they can kill. Only if u bring a guest or kids it counts toward ur bag limit. I've been in that lease for as long as I can remember and we usually kill double digits. In the glory days on good days I would hear 15 to 20 birds gobble a day. Then when everyone decline started it got down to hearing 2 to 6 a day but we seemed to never be shirt on gobblers. There were several years not many hens seen. This year lots of hens for first time in awhile. I ran cameras February and March on 2 spots and it's hard to distinguish individual gobblers but as best as I could cipher we had 20 to 28 different longbeards using the area. I know there's are at least 4 left this year as I saw them hunting Monday. There I a 10000 acre property next door that sopposedly is no hunting. I'm sure some people do but prolly not many killed over there. It seems with thinning our pines this year has really helped. It just don't make em gobble. So yea we kill a lot every year. My wife and I are both members so my family is allowed 8. We've filled 6 of those.
