Hey guys, want to introduce myself. I'm from Southern Ohio, own an outfitting business and a tv show on pursuit network. I'm looking to come hunt in the cookeville area. I've never been there, and was wondering if any of you all knew anything about that area? good population of birds? decent country side? I love tn, probably one of my favorite states, and go to the smokies every year. I'm excited about getting down there and doin some huntin

thanks for the tip KY-TN hunter. I have looked at the google maps already. Those are a great asset. It would be private ground that ive never been to outside the nashville area about an hour to the east. i've been talking to an outfit that specializes in turkey hunts. I would rather not have an outfit, or a guide, i'm extremely experienced in the woods but not with TN in general. The problem that occurs is that when you are trying to get kills on film for a tv show and your running on time restraints, you try to grab up your best chances, because to me, my time is the most important. If there is anyone out there that has good farms, and would be willing to let a national tv show come film and hunt for a few days, shoot me a PM, i'd be more than happy to pay. I would just need pointed in the right direction

BTW, you all have been great. I know, with some forums, especially ours in ohio, the locals can be a pain and arent any help at all what so ever......I think its awesome to travel, and experience different states and what they have to offer.

i've already got some guys coming in to hunt a couple of my farms this year the opening week or i'd be willing. i'll talk to some other guys around here and see what they can do. if i have any luck i will PM you. located just north of cookeville.

Hey Dave fellow Prostff Randy C here, get us a hunt lined up and we will pursue. Awesome longbeard hunting in East Tn.

i dont know a TON about that area but from the knowledge i do have on Putnam county, the population is decent depending on where you are but not as high if you head west a county or 2. Granted i have not been out there in a few years so maybe things are different now but I had a buddy at tech a few year back getting his masters in wildlife biology and did a thesis on turkey nesting in that area and at the time he was having a hard time finding flocks even big enough to follow. As i said it has been a few years now though and he did most of his studies in a 10 mile radius of tech. Good luck either way!

I have ground in the middle/western portion of the state as well as the eastern side. The mountain birds are a much tougher challenge than the field birds. Myself and another member have filmed a few hunts ourselves and I would suggest you hunt the middle part of the state if you are looking to put together enough footage for a show. JMO.

As for permission, yeah it's kinda hard to get unless you have lived there your whole life.

Price per acre, I couldn't tell you...probably $1-$12 depending on location

ok, thanks.....sounds good. Ideally, a person would like to find some open ground where you will find some strutting, etc....but, that's in my dream world. LOL. I will hunt them no matter the terrain. We are always successful with my outfit, but sometimes we have been known to walk 8 to 10 miles by noon if the hunting is tuff for the day

I know exactly what you mean, but you can't beat the satisfaction of knowing you beat a Tom at his own game lol.

Shoot me a PM if you aren't able to get a hunt scheduled and we will figure something out
