I voted #2 (reduce the limit) but it's hard to put your finger on just 1 reason. Just as in deer hunting the regulations for turkey hunting are too broad. I agree that blanket policies greatly simplify whatever they're meant to cover but our state and it's wild game populations are much too diverse to effectively and adequately regulate all as one. Where one county may have healthy populations another may need adjustments/major adjustments. Could be wrong but it seems to me that when policies are made that they don't ere on the side of caution but rather bend to the will of those areas not needing any adjustments??????
My turkey hunting evolved much like my deer hunting. I'm picky. Youngins get a pass. I simply get no satisfaction in killing a game animal before it knows how to play the game. Besting the best is my goal but in order to play by those rules regulations dictating healthy populations are required. Overall the last few years I regret to say that it seems that isn't happening and any moves towards that goal are reactive rather than proactive.
As a side note, I've never fanned. I do have to say that it has an appeal for me. Getting that close to a bird with him doing his thing looks like it'd really be a rush and I'd love to try it. I think it should remain a legal way to take a bird but with 1 stipulation; you aren't allowed a weapon. You have to catch him by hand. I want to see the videos, lol.
