Seek One knocks down a TN stud!!

Anytime someone brings up print magazines of the "old" days, I think it is imperative we acknowledge the differences. I think they are obvious but for whatever reason are over looked. I'm not defending backyard pet deer shooting via magazine neither. And, I'll be honest, I cannot remember ever reading about such.

It's worth noting that print magazines had to be purchased and were only shared within a tight network of people who wanted to see it. Produced by very few people.

YouTube, Facebook, instagram, etc is spread globally in a matter of seconds to anyone with an account. Cheaply produced by anyone with an account.

Also, tndeer is a platform people have to seek out. Another point not referenced when people call this "social media". It would take a lot of work for this thread to be shared to a neighborhood HOA Facebook page.

Cover story. Dec 1993. My point remains; this is nothing new. Giant suburban bucks have been "exploited" for personal and corporate gain for a long time.

As far as the seek 1 video being broadcast all across the world in an instant:

Have you ever seen a someone's else youtube? They have videos suggested to them based on their interest. If someone's into video games, they largely see video game videos. Cooking? Cooking videos. Wrenching on cars? Car wrenching videos. You get my point? You can't make the claim that someone would have to seek out an article in a magazine, or this thread on social media, and ignore the fact that youtube works largely the same way. Right?

It would take almost zero work for this thread, or any thread for that matter, to get shared to Facebook or an hoa web page. It's a simple copy and paste. Any other claims are disingenuous at best.

And do we not want to talk at all about how the animal would have died if not by a hunters arrow?

Seems to me he lived 6-8 years without much hardship in that park in Nashville. I get your point though. Nature is tough and deaths by anything other than a hunter's arrow or bullet are far more gruesome. But still, I believe this style of hunting does more harm to deer and deer hunters than it does good.

Actually I think you're wrong. He killed some does and a scrub last year I believe…
He killed a really nice buck that he had history with. He just got it back from the taxidermist. I've said it several times that catman came on this site and did not know a thing about hunting. He asked questions, listened, and took constructive criticism and put it to work and is a great hunter now. He puts a lot of time scouting and hunting public land and enjoys what he does.

I don't see how. It''s nothing new and I don't see the detrimental effects that you guys are claiming. What am I missing? Point out to me how this is damaging our sport. Other than fellow hunters and outdoorsman ranting on incessantly about it, where and how is the damage done. I think this is a situation where we hear something enough - "this is damaging our sport. This is bad for hunters" - that we just start to parrot it without questioning.

What good does it do for hunting?
Is that directed at me?
I can't see where it does much good. On the flipside, I don't see all the harm its doing either.

Who gets to decide how much land is enough to hunt? Does everyone need at least 5 acres? 10? What about the guy in the affluent neighborhood who has been quietly killing "pet" deer off his 2.5 acres for years? No fanfare, no videos. Just stacking em up. Is he good? Does he get a pass.

Good lord people. It's public land. Everyone has the right to be on it and film doing what they love to do. Agree with it or not. They may be making money, but I wonder how much revenue they have brought into the state and other states? They are currently raising money for turkey research for everyone to benefit from. What have y'all done besides sit on your butts and complain? Wonder how much money they have brought in to help the public land they "expose" for personal gain? Watch it or don't, but I know catman and the THP guys how done more for hunting and public land then most of y'all on here complaining. All I see is jealousy and it ain't a good look.

Try selling that to the folks that have been covered up by the deluge of out of state hunters that those little innocent videos drew in. I suspect they won't agree with your view.

Public land? I thought he got permission to hunt private land?

They can do the same if they choose. They have other options other then sit, cry, and complain.

So they sat empty before the videos came out?
AZ paid THP, Randy Newberg and a few other social media influencers to promote the public land hunting there. They did such a great job that the public land received too much pressure and too many deer were being killed, now the seasons have been restructured and opportunity reduced for those that hunted those areas for years.

I took a few minutes and read through the comments on the Seek1 video. They have inspired more than a few people to start knocking on neighborhood doors.

As I have mentioned before, it is puzzling when someone works so hard to find/scout a place to hunt then to pimp it out on social media, only to make the hunting harder for themselves by creating more pressure and less opportunity.

I hate to burst your bubble, but not all of us need someone to crush the like and subscribe buttons in order for us to do good deeds for wildlife conservation. It's a pretty naïve assumption to think that we aren't doing anything but sitting around and complaining.
