So let me get this straight / TN coaching position

I don't think future coaching candidates have much to worry about regarding being protested...unless they have accusations of enabling child rape in their past.

Tennessee fans just want a good coach. Petrino or Kiffin would be on my short list.

From a Vol fan, thx for posting a reasonable conclusion to this unfortunate fiasco.
I would say there are plenty of head coaches without any association to PSU that would like the shot at 5-7 Mil/yr.
Great facilities, great recruiting bed, and passionate fans....
I would be on the Lane train, why not....

Thanks. This exactly.

I believe there is more to this story than we will ever know. We do know that Vol fans voiced their displeasure
yesterday in droves, and are now getting crushed by the "media". Who cares what any of them say? The only one
I heard that was half way taking up for TN was Bomani Jones. My question is if he was such a good hire, why wasn't his
name out there for other coaching jobs? Urban Myth said he had multiple offers, but we have never heard any of them.
I believe it was a dang if we do dang if we dont situation with no way to win. Sorry in todays world it is better to not
take a chance on someone if there is even a hint it will come back to bite you.

I can see the headlines now if the hire had went through.

The lack of knowledge about the Sandusky scandal, the unwillingness to get educated about it beyond (maybe) reading three lines from a (likely) several hundred page 2015 deposition transcript of a witness, whose testimony has changed multiple times over the years, of third hand hearsay of what a coach in 2001 said another coach in 1992 said he saw (and both coaches having denied repeatedly ever saying this to the witness), a former FBI director, a Pennsylvania attorney general investigation, and multiple district attorney investigations finding no credence in the third hand hearsay, but not letting any of this ignorance stand in the way of joining a mob to destroy a man's reputation simply because the mob didn't think the man was marquis enough to coach a mid-tier at best SEC team is astounding. The fact that the mob would support hiring coaches with proven character and ethical flaws over a man that is at most guilty by association is scary. But this is life in today's USofA.

The risk was not worth the reward, he was not a so called homerun hire, why even take a chance of any involvement, we were just raked over coals on title9,

Currie: " We Will not be using a search firm"

i knew we were in trouble when i heard this. the search firms are real and do their due diligence. this is the most important ut football hire in ut fb history, and we blew it. this will set ut back 10 years. tee martin? lol ok, loved him as player and he's done a bang up job as usc oc. but ut is not a place to learn to be a head coach, not now. idk :bash:

You really think he will survive at OSU after this? I say no way....

Gov Haslam gets 110 Text about the Hiring http://wkrn.com/2017/11/27/haslam-has-c ... o-episode/

Haslam is just taking up for his dumbazz brother who engineered the hire with his puppet Currie. Had there not been a public outcry, Schiano would have been hired, and UT coaches would have been fighting the Ped State rumors every day in recruiting. Until UT rids the football program from influence by the Haslams, they will be doomed to mediocrity. It is apparent that Jim Haslem is clueless about picking coaches or much of anything regarding football if you look at his teams over the past decade.

I'm sorry if Schiano feels wronged. But, he is at least partially to blame. As soon as that deposition was unsealed and McCreary's testimony was made public, he should have mounted a public campaign to clear his name from what was said. If, as I have seen written, it wasn't possible to do it by lawsuit, then he should have beat the truth out of McCreary. That is, unless, under oath, McCreary spoke the truth.

The fact that Schiano chose to do nothing is pretty damning to me.

ESPN: Tennessee has reached out to David Cutcliffe about the Vols' head coaching job, but Cutcliffe informed UT officials that he wasn't interested and plans to finish his coaching career at Duke. The Blue Devils are bowl eligible for the 5th time in the last 6 years.

So you know for a FACT he didn't know about it? I don't know. I see your point, but to call out everyone for knowing exactly as much as you seems flawed. You have even been wrong more than once on here about what McQueary's testimony said. mcQueary knew enough to put Sandusky in prison and fire a legend in Joe P, so there is some truth there.

Like I said I don't know who knew what. I do know UT didn't investigate it. They admitted they didn't go that far back. They should have at least done their own investigation.

He should survive. After all, tOSU didn't have a problem with him before.

Let me just ask Scioto. You obviously think a lot of your program, THE Ohio State. You obviously know without a shadow of a doubt that Schiano is free and clear of these allegations. With all of that out of the way, heres my question.

If the circumstance ever happened and Schiano would be the next coach at OSU, would you be on board with it?

Also, I saw somebody else make a post on another site that made me think a little.

If Currie had done all of this today, the hire would have went through without a hitch most likely. Everybody would have been at work and students would have been in class. Dodged it bigtime.

Just think, now the buckeyes have a built in excuse when Wisc. beats the wheels off them this weekend.
"Them mean ol Vol fans had our coach upset and not focused on the game." But the MYTH already set the
stage for that with the "cameraman hurt my quarterback" junk.

Idunno, The Internet Mob would have still been alive.

Where Tennessee screwed up most in this Coaching search IMO is not firing Jones a month or 6 weeks ago and hiring a search firm. I still think TN is a top 10 job Nationally so they can turn this mess around, but Currie should be fired immediately.
