Ok, I made my choice today. I found a store with both the t3x and stoke in stock.
I ended up going with the t3x compact...and here is why.
Both rifles seemed to be about the same weight. I didn't have a scale, but I couldn't tell the difference. The bolt on the Tikka was indeed slick, but so was the stoke. I actually liked the stoke better in that regard. The bolt fit the receiver better...no flop. The stoke stock i felt was better, but.... honestly, it looked like they put a sporter barrel into a varmint stock...large gap on both sides of barrel. The stoke was threaded, but I have no use for a can or brake on this rifle...so that was pointless.
It could possibly have been that the stoke didn't have the spacers in the stock, but the Tikka felt better. LOP was too short on the stoke...again, probably lack of spacers.
It was a tough choice to make. There were things about both that I liked...and disliked. The only other Tikka I have handled had a huge palm swell that I didn't like. This one was different...felt much better. It felt good.
In the end, I'm sure I would have been equally happy with either one, but I chose the Tikka. It just fit me better.
