Turkey contest?

the biggest obstical that is see is how to do it on here and by that i mean a separate thread or section and possible team threads. Im not sure how the admins feel about adding it or if they even would so anyone that has pull with one try and find out :)

yeah i felt the same way but i just figure if we did it at a smaller scale and did it on here the drama would be far less if any.

You may be right.... I will have to think on it a day or two.... pencil me & the Mrs. in for now..... I will check on a few other things as well....

Meanwhile, we need to get some rules drafted.

# of team members... maybe a poll if we can get one.... You don't want the same number of birds making final cut as team members that way there is a little leeway for someone having a tough season or other reasons being detrimental to the team score.


A good starting point would be how many members of VDM want to play and stay together?

Already talked to Admin, said he doesn't think the current software allows for the same set-up like what we are used to REN. Might just have to make do with some stickies. I will check into just a seperate "contest" forum specifically for the contest to keep from cluttering up the Turkey forum threads.
 
stickies would work if we had a different section to put them in...could have a sticky for each team and an overall score one. Would be nice for someone to have admin rights to just that board so a single person could keep updating the original posts to keep them up to date.

I would think if you add a whole new section you could add separate threads just like say the Classified. Inside that you have the classifieds and pay it forward. You could do the same and just have a section for each team and one for general contest talk. You could open the section in Feb and close it at the end of may each year. Again just a though and not sure what is possible from their stand point.

As for the rest, I have already sent in the question for basically what you covered.... just waiting for the response. :)
 
Looks like we can get a forum added specifically for the contest related topics and teams to chat in..... Sorry no sub-forums for each individual team as some of us are used to. I think we can make it work.

If Alabama season starts in the middle of March.... we need to have this up and running by around the first week of march.
 
With limited capability, we will just have to make do.... Baby steps my friend.....

The contest forum will ONLY be for contest related business/discussions.... all other general turkey stuff will remain in the "Long Beards & Spurs" forum.

At this point, there will be a "team" registration thread, an "individual" registration thread, a rules thread, and a "score thread" for each team.

The the rest of the "chatter" threads will follow....

Those are the majority of last years team + two new members where two VDM members bowed out....

We can do 8-10 member teams.... whatever the majority want within reason.
