turkey only lease $?

There was a time I would set your mind at ease and tell you that turkey hunters don't use ATVs and won't drive far off the pavement. They walk everywhere they go and aren't worried about how far. But these days you never know. So many deer hunters are married to their ATVs and many of them are taking up turkey hunting. If there's a good population of birds I bet you could easily get $4-500 for turkey rights. I know for a fact you could where I live.

yeah most of the turkey hunters that got me started back whe I killed a bunch of them birds would never bring out a four wheeler. but i see them a lot during turkey season now. to get to the back block of timber on my place it's 700yards across the crop field. got birds on it in that block pretty regular.

thanks

$3 to $10 per acre depending on your population density. Probably not worth the leasing out headaches unless you could find a group of 3 friends willing to pay $500 each.

1 500 acre block for $1000

PM me if you decide you do want to do something with your turkey rights.

I wouldn't lease land to hunt myself but I know you're in a really good area for turkey. So good luck and hope you get it figured out.

If you decide on a price please let me know. I'm a Marshall county resident refuse to use a four wheeler and prefer to hunt alone.

I agree a few hundred bucks is not worth the hassle . Not to jump this thread but I have my 200 acre KY turkey hunting listed for $2600 for up to three hunters. That is $13 per acre.
I know some of you may think 200 acres may be small for turkey hunting but the birds spend the winter here eating corn from silage that I feed my cows . I can sit on my porch early mornings and hear them gobble on their roost in the spring.
I set up a trail camera that is junk now . It took pictures of me setting it up and leaving but that was it . It did not even show me taking it down to check my card.

I don't get all the "hassle". If it were me and I didn't turkey hunt, I'd find an old school turkey hunter that didn't believe in ATVs, charge him $500, he'd hunt 6 weeks in the spring, and you'd never know he had been there. Tell him up front no ATVs or guests. Easy peasy 5 bills in your pocket.

That is a great deal , make sure to keep the owner happy and I darn sure would not let anyone know where it is located.

I actually let the lease go. landowner was easy to work with and the guy that handled the lease is a member on here and was super nice to deal with. I kinda regretted letting it go but hard to hunt 130 mins away from home when you have good ground to hunt 25 mins away from your house

the "hassle" is I have some projects that I need to be working on before crops go in, yet I wouldn't want to mess up someone's hunt if I leased it out, so i'd just keep putting my projects off to make sure I didn't disturb them or the birds during the season. with my travel schedule I have to be there when I can to get everything done. i'm gone half of march and almost all of may so april is all i'll have.

I was just curious mostly what one would go for as i was thinking it would be great to offset foodplot cost but because i'm so considerate toward people I know I wouldn't get what I need done... done .... so i'm not even gonna considered it any longer.

I know lots of landowners who are not that considerate, I know I would appreciate that consideration if I paid my money to lease a place. Thanks for your honesty.

Makes sense and kudos to you for being considerate.

yeah I mainly was curious simply because I've had so many ask to hunt it since I bought it. I don't believe the headache is worth a few hundred. bucks.

If you don't hunt turkey and you are not going to hunt them, I don't understand why you just wouldn't let someone hunt it during turkey season. Leasing it is just gravy. Sure it's not a lot of money, but it is $200-$500 more than you had.

Also I may be naive, but wouldn't a turkey lease be for a maximum of 2 months? Maybe middle of March through middle of May. As far as headaches go make them have the lease written up and you could have someone look it over. If it is good sign it and collect your money.
