What was your reasoning for doing that?

no sir I never considered a full strut shot to be low percentage, I always avoided it because of shot in the breast and on the back (if plucking the whole bird). And I don't know what shooting rampage...we each only killed 1 bird out here last year and were separately. I've called in some big big birds over there that were shot with their head up.Roost 1":3dxiazcn said:PalsPal":3dxiazcn said:catman529":3dxiazcn said:I told him to yell at the bird to get his head up but right then he shot...

Because he knows it a higher percentage shot but for some reason he is trying defend a bad decision by his partner. If my memory serves me well these two go on a bushwhacking rampage every year. They will learn but hopefully not too many birds will be injured before they figure it out.
my point exactly.Southern Sportsman":el8r3e6o said:This seems a little overblown. Is an upright head a better shot than a strut position head? Of course. But is a straight on strutting turkey at reasonable range a low percentage shot? Nope. I try to avoid them, but mainly for meat preservation. A 20 yard shot is a much higher percent than a 35 yard shot when bow hunting, but if your comfortable with equipment and ability at 35, and a deer stops in an opening at 35, you let it fly.
Same here...Setterman":2m6r69zx said:I watched the video expecting something I could latch onto, but honestly I've busted a bunch in that exact position and haven't lost one of them yet. Is it the best angle? No, but I'm not bothered by that much. However, I don't care much for bushwhacking birds.
ha I figured you wouldn't care for the hunt itself if you saw it. Heck that's the main reason I didn't shoot him myself. But the way this past weekend and most of the season has gone, I'm ready to blast the next tom I have in range, they've been messing with my head. I did find 5 jakes this evening but still don't want to shoot a jake...Setterman":lx4xzbnc said:I watched the video expecting something I could latch onto, but honestly I've busted a bunch in that exact position and haven't lost one of them yet. hey mark what did that Hevi shot do to that strutting tom you shot a couple weeks ago?Hollar Hunter":35ejlnuo said:SMH... The exact reason I hardly look on this forum...you should bash deer hunters this ridiculously that way we can evenly bash all hunters except you eliteest who keep hunters name worthy...
