ON A PUBLIC FORUM that some shots are better than others, no different than shooting a deer broadside, or shooting one straight on. Sure, you can kill one shooting straight on, but if you shoot enough, you are bound to lose one, or several, over time. Same with shooting a strutting turkey. If you, or others, or the young kids who read these forums, want to see for yourself, try to shoot everyone you see in strut, over several years, and report back to the group after you have shot at 50 or so (
decent sample size to have a valid claim). I would like to see if the kill percentage is as high as many here claim it would be.

This point about today's ammo increasing your odds may be valid, and something I gave a lot of thought to over the past several days. To put my viewpoint into perspective (
don't shoot strutting turkeys unless in self defense), it was before the HTL ammo trend days (
> 15 years) since I have shot one in full strut. Since those days, I have yet to encounter a strutting turkey that I could not get to break strut long enough for me to kill him. My .02
