A big tom you've been working all morning breaks and comes in, however, he hangs up at 45 yards and will come no further. After strutting for 15-20 min. He finally comes out of strut, folds his wings and takes a step away from you. BOOM? or Let him walk and circle him? I've had this happen several times. I've killed turkeys at that range, and I've missed them. Tried to circle and killed them, tried to circle and busted them. It can be a tough decision. What would you do?

45 is about the limit i want to shoot one so with just the story above i would shoot.

there are alot more factors that can play in there though (field or woods, flat or rolling terrain between him and I just to name a few)

45 is my comfortable limit too. I've killed them at 60, but won't pull the trigger unless he is at 45 yards now. Its more fun, a more ethical shot, and more challenging to get them closer.

I could take some moral high ground and state I want them close dammit before I shoot. However, he is dead, in that situation. My ideal zone is 25-30 yards, and I hesitate to take shots over 35, but am perfectly comfortable taking one out to 40 or 45 on the rare occasion I need to.
