I saw the garmin 73sv is on sale at bass pro for 499 for the spring fishing classic, the helix 7 has a 50 rebate making it 649. I have a 798 and 598 hummin bird and i like both of them the 598 is a bit small though. The helix is nice and so are the lowrance 7 in down side units.

that 73sv is the first gen model with the GT40 xducer which is 77/200khz, still a good deal for 499. the newest chirp models use 455/800khz which bring in more detail on sidevu and downvu, you can find those at the gps store for 650 and the 93sv for 850 bucks. wish i had waited and bought the 93sv chirp now since i still dont have my 7sv installed from last year. hope garmin comes out with the 1200khz mega side view since they are now liscensing their sidevu tech from hummingbird, then maybe they will drop that 93 sv chirp to 499 lol.
77/200 I don't think does sidescan, bet it has another frequencie in the transducer

hmm, i looked at the wrong transducer that has 260khz sidevu. the only difference between this one and the newest model is 2d chirp. it has 455/800 chirp modes if the head unit can process it, if that is true, $499 is a heck of a deal then if it comes with maps included.

Humminbird just released 455/800 chirp in there new mega imagining helix units, all this chirp non chirp gets confusing.Chirp is for better target seperation.

i think the helix mega model is 1200khz. i think they went from 455 to 1200 and skipped 800khz. strange they put it in the helix and not the onix but i guess that may have been to compete with garmin.

HB went from 455/800 to 1200khz in the Helix line and the Solix 12-15 replaces the Onix!!
