50% there at the WMA, or statewide? Pretty sure someone confirmed with TWRA the statewide # is just north of 14k that can't be down 50% vs last year this time.

In those core counties(Maury, Giles, etc), not sure what the specific numbers on the WMAs are. That quote is not reflective of this year, it's from 2017.
In the, not so secretive WMA, they are doing some research and tagged a bunch of turkeys. I'm anxious to see what the research comes up with.

I've always given you the benefit of doubt since you are new to the game and still green but dang it man. You know you have single handedly doubled the pressure on that place but still cant hold your tongue. Now this week you got 4 or 5 cameras running around there.

The public land bus was there along with the THP guys using decoys (conjuring Setterman). Another YouTube celeb was there this week, not sure if his video has posted or if he even recorded anything.

I invite all YouTubers to LBL. Good luck.

I don't believe Maury would be included in that. Giles, Lawrence, and Lincoln, sure. Parts of southern Marshall county maybe, but I doubt they are studying Maury county, UNLESS they are just using the WMA as it is easy access for them.

I can see the counties I mentioned maybe having a 50% decrease YoY 2017 vs. 2016, but Maury has not dropped by 50% YoY in any year that I know of. If you lump them in with the others, maybe, but that is like sending the smart kids to the dumb kids school to bring test scores up and visa versa. Doesn't make sense to lump them in with the other counties unless you want to mask the decline in the lower counties.

I guess I'm going to have to start driving further and hunting out of a boat like you have resorted to the last couple years. Whether you know it or not, you have already started to let that cat out of the bag too. SMH
:rotf: I was wondering who was going to be the first to say it, and when it would come about.

Ding ding ding we have a winner!!! Catman and Catman Outdoors are known on several hunting forums and Youtube for scouting for others, and doing a good job at it too, as well as pissing off a lot of public land hunters who know how to keep their mouths shut and enjoy the hunting that they have, while they have the opportunity. I've got friends who are not members here, but lurk here, who read Catman's, and others posts, and can tell you just about every WMA they are referring to, both in state, and out of state. It is amazing how hunters can study the details of posts/photos/videos/comments/replies/etc, and narrow down hunting areas to 1-2 WMAs. If you had been hunting 30+ years, things like this would be obvious to you. Keep on and keeping on, but hopefully you'll eventually slow down and smell the roses, and be grateful for the opportunities you are afforded. My .02

A lot of others sure have not.

Your probably correct and I apologize. I was quoting a article I read and evidently it was misleading or my reading comprehension is suffering from getting top early this morning to hunt. The article sure made it seem like they were studying the WMA. Im leaving the name out for internet creepers but I will PM you the article and let me know how you read it.

I hunted catman's wma this past weekend. What his instagram stories doesn't tell you is that I was attacked by 43 swarms of jellowjackets then I ran into 17 rattlesnakes, 14 bears, and 1 liberal. Here's some pics to prove that I was there.

Catman just needs to start telling the full story and not making it look like hunting there is a walk in the park.

You guys are funny. His YouTube video doesn't make people go to a WMA. He could invite people whether they filmed or not, its public land. He never says where he is, BUT anyone with half a brain can look at kill #'s for the state, see which county tops the list yearly, and then see that there is tons of public land in and around that county.... OF COURSE they will show up there. I live 40-50 minutes away. I have always opted to stay on a closer WMA (don't want to give away my trade secrets so i won't name it, lest someone show up and hunt ;) ), but now that habitat change and other things have lowered the turkey #'s I am definitely making a trip down at some point this season. Heck one of my private places I have to drive past the unnamed mythical WMA to get to, so it is a closer drive. I could sleep in 20 extra minutes :o.

This site used to be about helping people be successful, but now that the birds are in decline, lets protect OUR birds so no one can come and get them. People are coming whether you like it or not and they are not coming because of a YouTube video. If I kill a turkey on a WMA and someone asks where I killed it, I will tell them WMA X. I won't put a pin in a map, but I will tell them the WMA. Most are 10K acres plus, so good luck out there. That is what this site is for. Info sharing.

Yes there is something wrong with the turkey population, but getting upset because someone doesn't agree with you or trying to hide pockets of birds due to selfishness, is lame AF. Most of us know something needs to be done, but the state has to do that. If your mad at someone point your anger there. Not that it will do any good, but at least you'll be mad at the right folks.

Oh and I too will drive further to said WMA and other WMAs and hunt out of my boat if that is what it takes to be successful and if I'm not, well I put my best foot forward.

Make that 1,002. Now that AT knows there's a Liberal out there, he'll probably show up looking for someone to talk global warming too. (Insert poking thing here)(also insert hilarious thing)

Some info, yes. But you don't have to tell everything you know. And in many cases you shouldn't.

I agree, that is why I clearly said, I will say WMA X and that is it. Several on here and on FB have made comments to him, because he USED to say in the video which WMA he was on... WHO CARES. People are not dumb. They can see where the public land is. Trying to make it out like he is causing people to hunt a WMA is laughable at best.

Turkey #'s are in decline. If you have them and have public land, the hunters are coming. Getting upset at the hunter's absurd. If you're that angry about it, BOMBARD the TWRA and the TWRC commissioners with e-mails and phone calls.

"If you see them in public, get in their face and tell them they are not welcome here until they fix the turkey season" All joking aside, seriously bombard them until they listen, that is all you can do. Mouping and blaming others doesn't do any good.

Somehow I knew this was coming.

Y'all just wait. I will be fanning and reaping turkey birds with Al Gore while you stubborn buffoons are scratching around looking for tracks in a post apocalyptic WMA.

I will make sure to honk the horn on our 747 as we fly over[emoji41]

You are showing yoru ignorance on this subject, just stop while you're ahead. Search the online hunting forums, there are PLENTY of threads that support my statement. Here are a few to get you started:

http://www.gobblernation.com/phpBB3/vie ... hp?t=12536

http://oldgobbler.com/Forum/index.php?topic=59522.0

Another OG thread was deleted in February 2019 because some of the members were blasting Catman for telling it all (internet forums, YT videos, etc) and inviting half the world to said middle TN WMA. The wording became so bad, the moderators deleted it. Catman commented in that thread, he know's what I speak of.

Bone Collector":3bmrrkiu said:

Are you sure you have not already named the WMA numerous times in older posts? It doesn't take much researching to put 2 and 2 together. Take my advice, y'all give away much more than you realize, and it is obvious to the numerous others who hunt there, and the increase in out of state tags.

It still is, but you do it via PM, not advertising public land on TnD, OG, Youtube, etc. The sooner the younger generation figures this out, the better we will all be. Like you said, let's help each other out and keep our mouths shut and our fingers off the keyboard, and by withholding pertinent details that do nothing for the story.
