Yesterday was 25-40 mph winds that beat us to death. Testing @Ski theory on wind shifts today. Slept in this morning as big shift at noon from SW to NW with falling temps.First hunt for whitetail for me this morning in NE. Season opened Saturday but guided my 72 yr old buddy for mule deer first two days. He killed yesterday afternoon so I have 4 days left to hunt. Got creek bottoms, shelterbelts & crp leading to 57 acre alfalfa field. Another buddy hunting other side of area past couple days has seen lots of hard chasing including a 160 class that didn't slow down long enough for shot on Saturday. Wind not bad right now but 20-30 this afternoon with higher gusts.

Good luck to your buddy, hope he finds the deer. Was in the stand for about 10 min, and got a call from a buddy that needed help looking for what he said is a 160" and asked I bring my dog. She got on the trail and jumped him, fortunately he headed back to his home area in the middle of the property. Buddy will look again in the morning.
got done with work about 2 pm and decided to go out and get a quick evening sit on the local public. No adult deer were seen. 6 different doe fawns were the only deer I seen. Thinking lockdown is in full affect on this piece of property. Y'all seeing similar or different?
The wind shift yesterday afternoon payed off for one of the guys with a 125-130 nine point following four does. Was tickled for him & he is happy. 70 yrs old, 6 pack of stints, 4 bypasses & diabetes & he was looking forward to sleeping in this morning!Yesterday was 25-40 mph winds that beat us to death. That's two old farts done, two of us to go & two days to hunt . Beautiful morning at 26 degrees & very light wind for a change. First morning like this since Saturday when we saw the 160ish buck chasing. 25-40 mph winds tomorrow afternoon, so time to get this done!
Setup on hill in crp about 1/2 mile off 57 acres of alfalfa overlooking a pond pinch point between two shelterbelts.
Good luck to all this morning
