Last year I had to overseed the plot 4-5 times. The last time was in early December. The dry conditions just kept persisting. Winter rye saved the plot.
This year the same plot was sewn with black oats/clover/chickory/radish/ buckwheat a couple of weeks ago when rain was predicted. The buckwheat and radish have sprouted and are doing fair. The oats did not take. Last week it was overseeded with black oats and wheat. The predicted rains were meager. Rains are again predicted for next week so it will be seeded with oats again if it looks likely for moisture.
There are 4 bags of winter rye waiting to come to the rescue in October and November.
