Weirdest thing you ever found in the woods.

I just remembered something else I found.
The TVA land I hunt used to belong to my great grandfather...prior to TVA taking it.
There is a civil war battlefield very nearby. Back in the day, there was a railroad that ran through there...under the lake now.
Years ago, I stumbled across a pile of railroad "artifacts". Mostly some signage and some kind of steel balls..about 6-8" in diameter. Thinking they were some kind of lanterns... Looked like maybe at one time had a wick in them..and they were hollow. I looked through the stuff but left it there.
Might need to go see if I can re-find it.
Sounds like cannon balls to me?

Mine pales in comparison with some of these but a few years ago I had climbed up in my stand well before daylight and got settled in and started looking around and I saw an orange light about 200-300 yards down in the pines. I thought someone had set up and had a flashlight on. I was not happy about it but I noticed after about half an hour it never moved. I got my binos out and tried to figure it out. Bright glowing orange spot about three foot from the bottom of a pine. I took this picture of it and should've got down and went to the tree but I sat in my stand til I was finished with my sit. Never did find the tree after daylight but snapped this picture. My only guess was that a piece of meteor had hit this tree and lodged in it.

Lived about 1.5-2 miles from the river in Rochester Hills Mi till I was about 11 among other places up there, I was forever walking or biking to fish, If walking I cut through the fields and sparse tree's, found a gal somewhere between 16-18 that had been beat up and raped, I got her calmed down enough to find out what was going on and beat feet to the mobile home park we lived in about 400' away, got a man and his wife they called police and I got them to her asap, As I was running to get help I seen a man and give his description to the police but the girl said he wasn't the 1, never heard if they caught who did it or not. Horrible thing to find at any age much less that age.

Found the woods on fire, that fire lead to a body the fire department later found, which was the origin of the fire 😬. That same area during a windy afternoon hunt i thought i heard someone screaming right at dark, dispatched a sheriff's car to the suspected location and they found a woman beat and stabbed.

I had a guy and girl walk down on me one time, i figured they were about to get it on, so I just sat quietly. It was bow season so no orange on. They walked about 3 feet from the base of my tree and pulled out a big pipe and started smoking weed. I let them get nice and stoned; then I started whispering to them. Man was that a show 😂😂. The girl finally saw me and signaled to keep going. She was having a tough time standing from laughing at the poor guy that was starting to FREAK OUT. He finally figured it out when she started pointing up and he said "hey man what are you doin in a tree!?" 🤦‍♂️

I've found 2 bodies. On separate occasions. But that's not in my realm of "weirdest".

My top 2 weirdest:

2. Was relic hunting a farm several months after the big tornado that hit Bradley County in the April outbreak several years ago. Up in a tree was what at first glance, looked like a tree house or treestand made from wood. I would always stop after hunting to let the landowners know I was off the property and show them what I'd found and offer any of the finds if they wanted. Landowner asked me where I'd found the stuff this time and I said "up there by the treestand or tree house thing". He looked confused for a sec and then it dawned on him what I was talking about. It wasn't either of those. The tornado had hit a doublewide a full 500+ yards away and destroyed it...killed the people inside. That was the porch to their house...had been separated from the house....flew 500+ yards and smashed onto a tree about 10-12 feet off the ground just like it had been built there.

1. I was relic hunting a Confederate camp in Calhoun TN and in a section of woods. I looked ahead and saw what I first thought was somebody standing in the woods. This is not far from the railroad so there's always the chance of hobos. Nope. I found a rock fire ring/circle with different sets of clothes gathered around it. And standing at the head of it...was a goat skull figure with black draped over it. Closest thing I can show you to it is this minus the person's head

Tell us more please.
The guy was a convicted felon and had several active felony warrants on him from NC. His family supposedly had not been in contact with him for 3-4 years. The search started when workers from the company found a skull. First thought was it was an Indian skull. When it was analyzed by Dr Bill Bass' lab it was determined to be a white male. The area where it was found was off the beaten path, so I was asked to join the forensic team and the Sheriff's Department to search the area. I found the remains of a tent buried under the leaves first. The boots were nearby with the bones still attached n them. We found the rest of the skeleton in a gully up hill and off to the side. There was a shotgun wound in the center of the chest and a rusty single shot shotgun nearby. There was an empty in the gun. It was ruled a suicide by the ME.
His billfold and ID were in his pants and there were several foil packets in his pockets and at the area where his boots and tent was.

I'll help.

I found a crashed remote controlled Jet airplane today. The body is a bit beat up, but otherwise seems to be fully functional. Wing-span is about 5 feet. It barely fit in my truck.

Look inside of it. It may have a name and number to contact the owner. I had an R/C plane get away from me once. A guy called 2 days later. Plane was totalled but I got the engine and radio back. That's the expensive parts. And if he didn't leave his contact info in the plane, I might be willing to buy it if the price is right.
